GREAT NEW BOOKS COMING!!!
Summertime is coming and it is time to take a break from our technology. Even as a ‘Tech Guy’, every summer I make sure I disconnect for a bit which means I get to read! It gives my brain a chance to recharge and I really do enjoy relaxing with a good book. We always plan to have a bunch of new books arrive and be available for summer checkout. I found out today most of the books have arrived or are in transit. Come by, look for a recommendation, stop by the Main Library and say Hi! Also….

EVENT: ISB Parent Book Club
DATE: June 9th
TIME: 10-11 AM
LOCATION: ISB MAIN LIBRARY
WHAT: Interested to join a group of readers during daytime meetings in our ISB library with other parents? Librarian Chris Bell will lead our discussion on Anthony Doerr’s Cloud Cuckoo Land. Copies are available in the HS Library. The 2nd half of our session will be BYOB – Bring your Own Book – Please bring a book you have loved and are ready to share a few words about it. We will decide what to read for the summer and reconvene in Fall. We will have 2 meetings per semester.

Bell Recommendation
At my core, I am a Sci-Fi reader. One of the authors who visited ISB is Marie Lu. We hope next year to begin having author visits again as this always makes a great impact on our students. Marie was awesome as she started her career working on Mario Cart the game for Nintendo. Since she has written a ton of books that are generally Sci-Fi crossed with Dystopic themes. I am nearly done reading this one and I can’t wait to get the next in the series. In the future, humans are stalked by ghosts who feed on us like zombies. They become violent and grow to large heights. Teams of two Strikers and Shields fight these ghosts to protect others. At the same time, the Federation attacks Mara, one of the human settlements in an ongoing war. There is a lot happening and I am excited to see how it all comes together. I suggest any Marie Lu book for the younger reader or those who love a good Sci-Fi trilogy.
