Meet in Google Meet for Virtual School

Virtual School Overview

As you all know, it is the relationship students develop with staff and students that keeps them happy, motivated and more likely to work at full ability. As that communication starts to drop off, students become less connected and their feelings and work start to suffer.

These tips are aimed at allowing you to communicate with students in a personal way, yet being able to communicate your expectations.

Google Meet

Overview

All students and staff have a Google meet account. Up to 25 students can join a Google Meet.  However, as you can imagine, that number is quite high. Maybe too high.

Practical Uses

  • Students “attend class” by connecting to any computer or phone in the classroom. This can be a friend, teacher or extra computer.  hey then appear online in your class and can participate.
  • Hold a discussion with one or more students on a specific topic. Great way to check-in as well if they have questions.
  • Present your Keynote or slideshow in Google Hangout

Getting Started

  • Go to Meet.Google.com and start a meeting.
  • Send the students a link via email or another communication platform. (Best for large groups)  Or… Invite students from within Google Meet. (Great for a few students)
