ScreenCasting and Recording with Quick Time

Overview

All Macs have the program Quicktime built into them and it allows for video, audio and screen recording.  It is a good program for screen recording and a so so program for video recording. Usually, YouTube live streaming is easier and saves a few steps. 

Practical Uses

  • Record a screencast message of the day where you can connect with students and also click around to show them what work you would like them to do for the day.

Getting Started

  • Use the search feature in your Mac to pull up Quicktime
  • Select “New Screen Recording”
  • Ensure you have selected a microphone (it is not selected by default)
