Bell’s Recommendation

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

I loved this book. It had loads of plot twists and the characters were intellectual as well as thoughtful as they demonstrated the best and, at times the worst things about relationships. Set initially in New England as our main characters are attending MIT and Harvard, they are gamers. They are studying to be game developers. We get some insights into how games come to fruition and how some are amazing and some fail for different reasons. At its base, this is a love story. As we track our friends through the book tragedies befall them and they must overcome and make good decisions. This is a fun book, this is an adult book but one that will appeal to students. It’s worth a read.

Technology Tools

ChatGPT Normalization

Well, the word is out, and it is quickly becoming ‘old news’ as things do in our fast-paced society. Last week I was in classes that applied ChatGPT. As a Technology Educator, it is good to see us embracing new technologies at ISB. How does it look in the future? Only time will tell. However, it seems some things won’t change.

An example is Turnitin.com, the plagiarism giant, which is already building a response to AI-built writings. This was likely inevitable that these things would sprout up. While I am cautious about plagiarism due to my role, I do appreciate the work that Turnitin.com does. As part of their response to the growing AI, they published several articles on the topic. I thought this one was insightful ‘What does plagiarism look like in a world with artificial intelligence?‘ Take a look and see what you think.
