Light at the End of the Tunnel?
It sounds like change is in the wind and we may soon be back together face to face. While I would not venture a guess as to what issues will arise, the important thing to remember is that we are all in this together. The thing we can control is our attitudes. Facing challenges, or change is part of what keeps life interesting.
“A career without change is likely to be one that lacks personal development as well as excitement, adventure and growth.” (Pettersson)
As for ISB, we will as always do our very best to deliver the highest level of education we can while trying to maintain connections with all students whether on campus or not. What that means for the library is that we will continue to offer Book Requests/Pick Ups with also the hope of opening our doors to students. It is exciting for us as it is quite a quiet place without the life and energy the students bring.
Something to look forward to in the library is that we made some changes. We decided to do some heavy management of the collection by consolidating, moving, and weeding to make the collection more accessible. We hope this means that when you do finally get to come into the Main Library you will be able to browse much more like a book store.
Lastly, we got our big summer order of books in, always one of the most exciting days in the library. We have a wide array of new books for you to check out. You can already see and request them on the Main Library Catalog and if you want to request any of these books you can use the Book Request Form linked here.
We look forward to seeing you all very soon. Take care, stay safe and remember, change is what makes life spicy and without spice, it’s kinda bland.
Warmest Regards,
The Main Library Staff

Transmission (#1 in the Invasion Chronicles Series) – by Morgan Rice
Looking for a different type of Sci-Fi? This is it! It begins with the sad story of a young boy with a disease. However, this disease has given him a sort of sight. It is unbelievable, yet just believable enough to be real. What does he see, flashes, clocks, numbers, and more? But what does it all mean? He has to visit a scientific center of a cult to get answers. When he gets there he realizes what he has might be special. Everyone else already sees how special this young man might be. Read this one to find out more.
Melinda’s Book Recommendations
Ground Zero by Alan Gratz (Middle Grade – Historical Fiction)
The story is based on two parallel stories that take place over a period of years, just prior to 9/11’s 20th anniversary. Brandon has to go to work with his father on the 107th floor when the tower is attacked on September 11th, 2021. He separated from his father and in the face of this disaster and confusion is helped by strangers and in turn, helps them. Afghanistan, September 11th, 2019 – Reshima has lived with war her whole life, and all she desires is to one day become a teacher. When a battle erupts in her village, an American soldier asks for help and Rashima cannot refuse due to the cultural norm that you cannot refuse to help someone who seeks protection, regardless of who it is. Both Brandon and Rashima face danger and make difficult decisions. It is a story about courage, and seeing both points of view, and how we must work together, not against each other. Highly recommended.
