Message from HS Principal

Dear Parents,

We have enjoyed a great week of Showcase events (for our IASAS Cultural Convention) and the HS also celebrated Intercultural and Inclusive week.  The showcase events were an opportunity for our CC delegates to get some last-minute practices/performances under their belt and also a chance to showcase and highlight their talents to their parents, teachers, and classmates. It was fantastic to see our students shine across all of these important disciplines and in many cases see parents there as well.

Speaking of seeing parents on campus, you will notice that we are continuing to open up our campus and have parents visit and return to being an integral part of school life. Along with upcoming sporting and CC events, we will be able to have parents come on campus for the Student Parent-Teacher conferences on Friday, March 11th. There are details about how to sign up etc later in the bulletin, but I do want to highlight that in order to run safe conferences on that day, we can only allow ONE parent to attend the conferences with their child on that day. Seniors students will be doing their mock exams on that day, so parents of grade 12 students are not required to attend either.

I mentioned intercultural and inclusive week in my opening sentence and indeed our lunchtimes were exciting and full of energy this week. We had bands playing, community service groups running a variety of booths celebrating diversity and recognizing the cultural diversity that we have at ISB. Students at ISB are accepting and very respectful of cultural and other differences, which is particularly important at a time when Ukraine and surrounding countries in Eastern Europe are in the midst of conflict and upheaval. Our thoughts are with our community members at ISB who have family in friends in these affected areas and we hope for peace and a quick and peaceful resolution to the current situation.

Stay safe, stay well

Student Parent Teacher Conference Sign Ups From Wednesday.

Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

Our High School Student Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on Friday 11 March. We are excited to be hosting these in person.

We will be following strict guidelines for parents coming onto campus for these conferences, so please be aware that only one parent will be able to attend the conferences due to the limited numbers of people that we are allowed in each venue. All parents attending will need to also conduct an ATK test on the morning of the conferences.

We will use pickAtime to sign up for one of four times. It is important that you only attend during the time that you are signed up for. For instructions to sign up for conferences, please click on this link. The site will open to parents on Wednesday, March 2 at 8am and will close on Monday March 7 at 2pm.

The link to sign up for pickAtime is: https://pickatime.com/client?ven=11603340

If you have any issues signing up for the conferences, please email Khun Arisa for assistance (arisap@isb.ac.th).

Many thanks,
Andy Vaughan

  • If you are new, you should have received an email with your login details, if not please contact help@isb.ac.th

Review your information that ISB has on record.  Please update if necessary.  It is really important this information is accurate, as we use this in emergency situations.

News from University Counselors

Debbie McDowell
debbiem@isb.ac.th

This week has been a busy one for the university counselors!

Ms Shrestha has returned from maternity leave and it’s great to have her back on campus. Ms Gordon was an awesome counselor and we were pleased to have her be a part of our team in Ms Shrestha’s absence.

Senior Seminar was on Wednesday. Grade 12 students met with their university counselors to discuss the results of their university applications. As of Monday, 21 Feb, over 1,400 applications had been processed by the counseling office. For those who have not completed their applications, they were instructed to set an appointment with their counselor to make a plan and timeline to finalize all of their applications. Counselors also spoke to those students who are getting conditional university offers and about what needs to be done to accept their firm and/or insurance choices. Students were reminded that they should NOT double deposit at more than one university under any circumstance. If the students or parents have questions about depositing or accepting offers, please reach out to the university counselors.

Junior Seminar was on Friday. Grade 11 students were introduced to the Maia Learning platform that will help students in their career and university research. This web based platform will be used by the university counselors to submit the supporting documents for the student’s applications next year.

Junior Led Conferences are underway! Good job and congratulations to those students who have conducted their Jr Conference.  All grade 11 students are required to schedule a Junior Led Conference before the end of March with their university counselor and their parents. The meeting will be the starting point for the university research and selection process for each student and family. This is a mandatory meeting and both parents are expected to attend, in person or via zoom. If a parent wants to attend the meeting in person, please let the counselor know and an invitation to come on campus can be arranged (with proper Covid protocols.) For those students who have yet to set their appointments, they (and their parents) can expect to hear from the university counselor about a designated time for their appointment. The counselors look forward to hearing from the students about what their plans are for life after ISB!

Students have completed the course registration process for next school year. Their schedules should be ready for viewing in May.

Just as a reminder, schedule changes can only be made for the following reason and by the following date:

  1. Between the sixth and tenth week of a course, if a student needs to move down a level, the dropped course will be listed on the transcript with a WP (Withdraw Pass) or WF (Withdraw Fail).  WP or WF grades are not included in the calculation of GPA nor is credit granted.  The grade calculated in the new course will start fresh and only include work completed for the new course.  Deadline is Friday, March 18.
  2. No level changes after March 18.

Finally, if your family is moving at the end of this school year and applying to other schools, please contact the HS registrar, Khun Fon (supanniy@isb.ac.th), and she will send you the necessary forms to withdrawal from ISB and request school documents (HS transcript) for your student’s new school.
