No School for Students Tomorrow: Thursday Sept. 10 and Friday 11 – Professional Day and ISB Holiday

Thursday September 10 and 11 are a Professional Day and ISB holiday.  Classes will resume on Monday Sept. 14th, 2020.  It will be an ‘E’ day.

PTA Room Parents Still Needed for a Few ES Classrooms

Thank you those who signed up to be room parents this year. We are still looking for more classrooms to be represented, including the following:

  • PK (all needed)
  • KG (all needed but Swanlaw)
  • G1 (all needed but Scranton)
  • G2 (all needed but Eide & Hagen)
  • G3 (all needed but Bowyer/Macky)
  • G4 (all needed but Garrett)
  • G5 (all needed)

Please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher if you are interested in being a room parent.

Typically, room parents coordinate and inform about class celebrations by email, share contacts if parents agree to have theirs shared, organize end of the year gifts and assist the teachers in sending out information to parents when needed. They will also very occasionally help out in the classroom when required or facilitate communication on events across a whole grade. Our teachers have the support of lots of amazing IAs and specialist teachers. Room parents are generally required to assist with the fun stuff!

Masks are REQUIRED on Campus! Be a Superhero!

ISB has strict mask guidelines in place.  All parents and adults are required to wear a mask while on campus. Be a superhero…wear a mask on campus.

Peace Day September 17th – Shaping Peace Together

Shaping Peace Together Students, faculty, and staff will gather virtually on Thursday morning, September 17 for this year’s Peace Day Assembly, Shaping Peace Together. Through the mediums of dance, music, film, poetry, visual art, and storytelling this year’s PK-G12 event will focus on the UN themes of spreading compassion, kindness and hope, and standing together with One Voice against discrimination and hatred. Look for more information next week about how to view the event, as based on the Thai MOE COVID-19 guidelines, we are still unable to host a live audience. The day of the assembly will be a free dress day for all divisions with students, staff, and faculty encouraged to wear white to celebrate our unity as a learning community and our solidarity with the rest of the world as we shape peace together!

Mobile Phones and Smartwatches

As written in our ES Parent/Student Handbook, students need to turn off their mobile phones during school hours and keep them in their backpacks. They may be used after school for appropriate purposes. We also seek your support in reminding students with smartwatches that they are not permitted to be used during the day to make calls or to send/receive messages. If students need to connect with a family member during the school day, they need to speak to their homeroom teacher or a member of our ES Office team.

ES Explore program will begin on Monday, September 14th
Confirmations of ES Explore placement and location are available on Powerschool. Payment online is still available until Monday, September 14th.

HELP! PARENT ACTION REQUIRED: Student Tracking of Student After School and Weekend Locations

HELP!  All ES parents are required to login to Powerschool and update their journal for the week, listing locations visited outside school hours.  All schools in Thailand are required by the Ministry of Education to have their students/parents keep and complete a daily journal of their whereabouts after school hours.  Only 60 families have completed the needed ES PowerSchool form.  ES secretaries will need to contact individual families who don’t complete the PowerSchool form, therefore we ask for your support in completing this important Covid-19 safety task each Sunday.

Logging into Powerschool, you will see a notification to update the Journal:

Each Sunday, complete the journal for the preceding week for each ES child. If you are having trouble accessing Powerschool or are unable to see your students in Powerschool,  email ES Powerschool Secretary, Khun Tom <cholthis@isb.ac.th>

Spirit Week Dress Up Days

Our PreK – 12 Spirit Week is coming up September 21 – 25!  The varsity council has worked hard and chosen themes that are simple and appropriate for students PK-12.  ES students may participate on all days; however, please support children to keep it simple.  They are expected to be dressed so they are able to participate in movement for their PE learning.

Monday, September 21 – Pajama Day
Tuesday, September 22 – Jersey Day (Team, Sports, Arts, Club etc.)
Wednesday, September 23 – Songkran in September Day
Thursday, September 24 – Diversity/Rainbow Day
Friday, September 25 – Black & Gold Day

  • Maintain physical distancing of 1-2 meters at all times
  • Wash or sanitize hands frequently

Weekend access is only for organized activities coordinated by the Panther Activities/ISB Athletics office. Participants must have an ISB ID to enter campus.
