ES P.E. Celebration of Learning February 15-16, 2018

Our ES Physical Education Celebration of Learning (COL) is coming soon.  This is a day in which students participate in a variety of activities showcasing their skills for you to see.

Thursday, February 15 (E Day) Schedule
Grade 5 – 7:45-10:15
Grade 1 – 10:25-11:45
Grade 3 – 12:40-2:20

Friday, February 16 (F Day) Schedule
Grade 4 – 7:45-10:15
Grade KG – 10:25-11:45
Grade 2 – 1:00-2:20

CLASS COLOR: On their COL day, your child needs to wear a t-shirt that corresponds to their class color with their PE shorts.  Additionally, please ensure that your child has athletic shoes and a water bottle.

We ask that parents do not participate in activities, as this is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of your child and to allow them the opportunity to demonstrate some of the skills they have been learning.  Please come out to support your child’s learning in PE by watching your child in action.

ES Musical: The Stonecutter, A Japanese Folktale

This beautiful folk tale tells the story of a lowly stonecutter who wishes to be ever more powerful, eventually learning that the greatest power is to be content with what he has. Come and enjoy the student interpretation of this story through drama, music and movement.

“The Stonecutter” will run two performances in the Chevron Theater: February 21 at 3:30 and February 22 at 6:30. Tickets will be sold in front of Chevron Theatre at the following times. Ticket prices are 250 baht for adults and 150 baht for students.

Upcoming Student-Led Conferences – March 15 and 16

Our annual Student-Led conferences are coming up on March 15 and 16.   More information will come to you when we are closer to this date, but as a head’s up for new parents, there is no school on these dates for ES students.  However, students will be involved in their conference time on one of the two dates.

Road Safety Parent Meeting- Friday February 23

Road Safety is a hot topic and we know you have something to say, questions to ask, ideas to share. The parent initiative to ensure safety and care on the roads in the ISB School Zone has been very successful these last 2 weeks. And it has people talking! All parents are welcome to join the conversation on Friday February 23 at 8:00am (Location to be determined). We are a very knowledgeable and capable community and we invite all of you to share experiences, ask questions, and offer ideas to resolve issues we are facing in regards to traffic and road safety.

Administrators will be available to answer questions and address concerns. Please email Katie Edsall at escoord@isb.ac.th with questions you have.

Please mark your calendars and attend this meeting to be better informed and be a part of finding solutions that promote child safety.

ES Explore (ES After School Activities)

This Semester’s ES Explore Program (After School Activity program) will begin on Monday, February  19th.

Confirmations of ES Explore placement will be available online on February 9th on your child’s Powerschool page.

There are still limited spaces available in some of our classes. You can still register at the CAO but don’t delay! Remember, once the ES Explore schedule begins there are NO REFUNDS however, you may change your ES Explore choice once it is before your third session.

(Repeat) International School Assessment (ISA) for Grades 3, 5, 7, 10

Students in grades 3, 5, 7 and 10 will take the annual ISA assessment on February 5 and 6. The International School Assessment is designed to offer comparable assessment data for students in international schools.  The ISA assesses students in the three domains of Mathematical Literacy, Reading and Writing.

Information collected by ACER regarding your child will be used only for the purpose of the ISA program. Any data identifying the student by name will only be provided to the school. ACER’s Privacy Policy may be found at the ACER website www.acer.edu.au or you may obtain a copy by writing to the Privacy Officer, ACER, Private Bag 55, Camberwell, Victoria 3124, Australia.

(Repeat) Season 3 BISAC U11 Track & Field

Season 3 Track & Field practices start on Thursday 8 February from  2:35-3:35.
This is open to students who were 8, 9 or 10 years old on 1 August 2017.
Practices will take place on Monday and Thursday from 2:35-3:35 on the ISB Track.

You can register for U11 Track & Field here. Registration closes on Wednesday 7 February.

The season ends on Saturday 24 March with the BISAC track & field Championships at ISB.

The Learn to Swim program will offer 2 sessions for 2nd semester.

Session 3: February 26th to April 5th
Session 4: April 23rd to May 31st

Classes will take place at the following times:

Mon & Wed 2:40 – 3:10pm
Tues & Thurs 2:40 – 3:10pm

Early Dismissal 1:40-2:10

Cost is 5,000 baht for a 6 week (12 class) session (K-5)
Cost is 4,500 baht for a 6 week (12 class) session (pre K)

(Repeat) After School Supervision

Any elementary school student on campus outside of regular school hours, who are not participating in a school sponsored event, must be actively supervised by an adult in charge, appointed by the family. This includes being in the elementary Learning Hub (library).

ISB accepts announcements from ISB families for potential publication in our eNewsletters. The announcements are generally intended to highlight events that occur at ISB and/or highlight information about ISB.

Your announcement will be submitted to the appropriate Principal and/or to our Director of Marketing and Communications for review. ISB reserves the right to determine which announcements will and will not be published, and to edit announcements that are approved for publication.

Frequency of eNewsletter mailings
The ISB eNewsletter that is for the entire community is sent out on Thursdays. Announcements for potential publication in this newsletter must be received by noon on Thursdays.
