Dear Families,
Welcome to Grade Two at International School Bangkok! We will be your child’s classroom teachers: Ed Hagen, Pornthip Srisomsup, and Ms.Becca O’Sullivan. We are very much looking forward to getting to know you all, and your children! Here is a bit more about each of us.
My name is Ed Hagen and this will be my eighth year teaching at ISB. Teaching and living here has been a dream come true! Previously, I taught at the Shanghai American School. My wife, Maggie Hagen, teaches English in our middle school. We are both American and live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We have two sons, Orion (8) and Oskar (6). Over the last 19 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to have taught all elementary grade levels, and I appreciate and love each age group.
Sawaddee Kha! My name is Pornthip Srisomsup. I have been working at ISB for 27 years. This is my 10th year in grade 2. I really enjoy working in the classroom with both students and teachers. It is very fun. I graduated with a Faculty of Arts degree from ABAC. I love trees and flowers. Touring Bangkok is my hobby. I’m looking forward to working with your child in grade 2.
My name is Becca O’Sullivan and I am the EAL (English as an Additional Language) support teacher for Grade 2. This is my first year at ISB, and I’m very excited to be here! I have three grown children who are living in Australia, New Zealand and Los Angeles that I hope will come to Bangkok this year. I have been an educator for over twenty years in the US and Abu Dhabi, and have taught all grades K-8. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
We value individualized education and are looking forward to working closely with you to provide the most appropriate and fulfilling school experience for your child. Your children are the most important thing to us and each child’s overall well being is number one. We are honored and privileged to be teaching them.
Meet and Greet
We will host an informal “meet and greet” today at 2pm. Picture a virtual open house. Feel free to drop in anytime between 2pm and 3pm. It’s a chance for students and parents to meet teachers as well as ask questions and get acquainted with classmates. If you are unable to attend, please get in touch. If you are new to Zoom, please watch this short tutorial about how to connect to a call. We will meet in Mr. Hagen’s Zoom Meeting Room: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3354724865 Password: espanthers
How We Communicate and Share
We will communicate and share in 3 ways this year:
Class Website – https://inside.isb.ac.th/edhagen/ All communication will be shared through this website this year. Alll communication is date stamped and available for later reference. Please bookmark or add the website to your home screen as well as your child’s. The email addresses you shared when registering your child have been subscribed. Each time the website is updated, you’ll receive an email from “Hagen’s Happenings@ isb-blogs@isb.ac.th”
Seesaw – This app will be used as the main platform for virtual school. Your child will use this app to share academic practice with teachers. Kids who attended ISB in grade 1 are familiar with the app. We will spend some time the first week teaching and reviewing how to use it. If your child cannot login to his/her account, please contact Mr. Hagen.
Email– This is the best way to contact us as we check these accounts regularly. Expect a response within 24 hours. If/When we return to school, please do not email during the school day about after school plans as we may not read email until after school is over. It’s best to call the ES office.
