Mr. Hagen’s Reading Group – Read commonlit_jared-to-the-rescue_student and think about these questions:

In the story, Jared and Jessica become friends after he helps her with the kittens. Why do you think Jared helps Jessica even after she was rude to him? How do you think friendships grow? Cite examples from the text, your own experience, and other stories or examples in your answer.

How does Jared and Jessica’s friendship prove that friendship can occur between anyone? Describe a time that you initially didn’t get along with someone, but grew to like them.

Come to our reading prepared to share your thinking.  This week’s readings are all about friendship.

Reading-Independent reading. Today we would like you to read at least 1 book on RAZ kids and do 1 quiz. Then, make sure you read for at least 20 minutes. 

WritingToday you will choose a poem that you would like to revise and edit. You will think about the meaning and music of your poem. Use your poet’s toolbox to add to or change your poem to make it even better. Find the Seesaw activity Poetry-Revise and Edit.
