Friday is the 2nd Grade PE Celebration of Learning 12:40-2:20

From our PE teachers:
Our ES Physical Education Celebration of Learning (COL) is coming soon. This is a day in which students participate in a variety of activities showcasing their skills for you to see.
We have assigned a color to each classroom. Please click here to find your child’s class color. On their COL day, your child needs to wear a t-shirt that corresponds to their class color. We understand that there may be some reservations to certain colors in light of recent events, if this is the case, students may either bring a corresponding colored shirt to school to change into for the event, or wear a school provided pinnie (bib) of the corresponding class color during COL activities.
Athletic shoes are required. Please also make sure that your child brings a water bottle and hat to school that day.
We ask that parents do not participate in activities, as this is a time for your child to demonstrate some of the skills they have been learning so far this year. Please come out to support your child’s learning in PE by watching your child in action.

Snacks

ISB provides elementary students with a morning snack each day.  Not all kids like the snack provided. Sending snacks with your child is OK.  However, these snacks have been disrupting class because they are being shared.  Because of this, students will now eat snacks from home during recess outside of the classroom.

Thank You

A huge thank you to Mrs. McNary, Keelan’s Mom, who made Thanksgiving baskets for the class last week.  She also made students a small coloring book.  In addition, Keelan’s Mom has been leading Zumba for our class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  The kids love to get moving in the mornings!

From our Counselor, Mrs. Thomas

In Guidance, we have now completed our unit on Empathy and Compassion and we are moving on to the next unit, Emotion Management.  We will be discussion the fact that when you feel strong feelings, it can be hard to think clearly.  The children will learn how focusing attention on your body gives you clues about how you’re feeling.  They will also learn that thinking about your feelings helps the thinking part of your brain get back in control.
The following Calm-Down Steps will also be taught and practiced:  1.  Stop  2.  Name your feeling   3.  Calm down by breathing, counting and using positive self-talk.  A Home Link that discusses our latest guidance lesson will be sent home with your child.  Please go over it with your child and sign the bottom, then have your child return it to their teacher.  Thank you for your support!
