Market Day Tuesday June 3rd:
What you need to know:
– 2nd graders need your help preparing the good or service they will be selling. Your child wrote you a letter in school on Tuesday and their homework that night was to ask you for exactly what they needed for their business. Last minute trips to the store and frantic baking are not necessary on Monday night!
– It’s important to have discussions with your child about their business before market day. See the questions below for discussion starters.
– There will be several opportunities for students to reflect on how their business is doing and to also make adjustments in price or business practices.
– 2nd graders will be selling their good or service to: 1st graders, other 2nd graders, 3rd graders, and parents. Each of these shoppers will be given 20 dollars to spend.
– 2nd graders will use their persuasive writing skills to write and record a short radio advertisement that will be played for other students
– 2nd graders will set up their booth/stand on Friday afternoon. Please send the items they will need with them on Tuesday morning. They will have about 15 minutes to put the final touches on their business before shoppers arrive.
Schedule: Parents may shop anytime between 8:00-9:30.
