Moonwalks, Mohawks, and The Million Solar Stars Initiative

MILLION SOLAR STARS LAUNCH Raising Awareness and Funds for Solar Power

Who:         Grade 2 – Grade 12 students
What:        Help break a Guinness World Record for the most people moonwalking
                   Current record = 251 people
When:       Friday, April 25th, 1:10pm to 1:50pm
                  (1:00pm – students start getting organized around the track by grade level for a 1:10pm moonwalk start)
Where:     School Track
                  (extreme weather plan:  make moonwalk conga line in HS gyms and
around ping pong area hallway with > 251 people)
Why:          To raise awareness and funds for solar power
How:          Students moonwalking one lap around the track, parents, teachers, and non-moonwalking students cheering, and as many people wearing sweatbands and Solar Mohawk wigs as possible.
Put on your dancing shoes, grab your friends, and let’s break a Guinness World Record SAS!!!

Moonwalk
Don’t forget to register to participate in our Guinness World Record Moonwalk Attempt! All students grades 2-12 are invited and encouraged to spend the afternoon of April 25th moonwalking in the sun. Our goal is to raise consciousness and cash for solar power at SAS, and we need your help!
We need at least 252 student moonwalkers to break the current record.
To walk , you must register: Go to Mr. Hall’s blog https://sites.saschina.org/ahall/ and choose from the three registration options below.  

  1. Moonwalker with T-Shirt* + Wig = 125rmb
  2. Moonwalker with T-Shirt* = 100rmb
  3.  Moonwalker with Wrist Band = 10rmb
  4. Just Moonwalking, thanks! = free

** You must register by TODAY to get the t-shirt in time for the event.

Solar Mohawks
Need some extra inspiration to join the moonwalking mob? If 90% of 5th grade and middle school students sign up to participate in the moonwalking record breaking, a smattering of your favorite teachers and administrators will get Solar Mohawks at the post-moonwalk assembly that afternoon!
