Report Cards and More Conference Information

Hello!  I hope your spring breaks were restful and fun.

Report Cards

These were released via Powerschool last Monday.  I think it is very important for parents to show their children their report cards.  The feedback should be the centerpiece for praise, celebration, and reflection.  Only 5-7 students in 2EH have seen a report card this year!  If you are having issues accessing the cards online or would like a printed copy, please let me know.  2nd grade is the age where you can mobilize your child as a stakeholder in their own education and achievement. Here are some articles that discuss the importance of this parenting practice.

Student Led Conferences

If you still have not scheduled a time and day, please contact me as soon as possible.  Click HERE for a link to the conference schedule and bus schedule.

Just as a note…our conferences were scheduled within one-hour blocks of time…if your conference was listed as beginning at a time that ends in :15…you actually have until the next hour to get to the conference and complete it.  So, for example if your conference time is scheduled for 4:15, you have one hour to complete the conference.  The students have planned for about 20-30 minutes of time with you so you have some flexibility.

Remember:  our spring conference time is TOTALLY let by the students.  I will not be sitting with each family personally like I did in the fall, and will only be present to support and answer questions.  Our hope is that your child can articulate their learning and progress independently.  What they have written and prepared to show you is a conversation starter, and not the ONLY thing they should be talking about.  The conference will be interactive and fun!  Please make an appointment with me if you would like some time to discuss your child’s progress in private.

Also…even though this a very comfortable space, and you are their parents…they get very nervous!  It shows how much they care about what they do here, and how much they need your positive feedback.  This is not the time to correct, evaluate or criticize their work…it is a time to reflect and praise, and enjoy your child in a setting where they are in charge of their learning.
