2. Students in 2EH will now bring one “just right book” home each night. This book comes from the 2nd grade collection, NOT the library. The book will be in students’ homework folders.
Students return the book and select a new one each morning. Students have been asked to select books from certain colored baskets. This ensure that they are reading texts that are within their independent level.
Children need to read books at their independent level 80% of the time. This is critical for growth and confidence. The books they bring home should be easy for them to read and they should be able to answer questions about them and discuss them.
Please contact Mr. Hagen if these books seem inappropriate. Please remember that just because a child can decode the words in a book, they may not always be comprehending the text fully.
