We just completed an experiential hands on activity about trade and resources. Students were separated into 5 groups. Each group was given only 1 of these five materials: wooden sticks, pipe cleaners, modeling clay, masking tape, or paper. The groups had 3 class periods to trade with other groups and construct the highest free standing structure possible. The class learned a lot about the value of resources, “exchange rates”, and what motivates countries and individuals to trade…or not. Congratulations to Coke, Mia, and Laura for constructing a 73cm structure, and for using excellent team work and communication skills.
