We are nearing the end of our character unit. As part of your assessment in this unit you will complete some tasks. Read your choices below and make your selections.
As part of your project, you must submit the following:
• Title page for your project (include the title of book, author, your name)
• Character Evaluation (see attached sheet. You may use this the way it is, or you may take the 10 boxes on the sheet and change the presentation to something more creative and that will have more space for you to write)
• In books we read, often a character goes through a change. Create a page, dividing it in half. Draw or find a picture of an important character from your novel. On one half, the picture should show how the character was before he/she changed, and on the other half, the picture should show the ‘after’. Underneath, write a paragraph explaining how your character changed—inside and out! Be as creative as you wish—you may use speech bubbles, symbols and anything else you can think of!
Choose 2 items from the following tasks to hand in:
Remember, be as creative as you wish! You don’t have to hand in the exact sheet you choose from. Use technology, colored paper, art techniques…whatever!

My Original Entry
I’ve been thinking a lot about my grandma. She died when I was 15 years old, and even though that many years and some have since passed, I still miss her just as much now as I did back then. There’s so much that I never got to share with her like getting married, she would have been an honoured guest of course.
Raising the Quality
I’ve been thinking a lot about my grandma. Maybe it’s because she died 25 years ago today. Maybe it’s because I miss her just as much now as I did back then. Maybe it’s because there’s so much that I never got to share with her.
I really wanted to show how much I was missing my grandma still, even though it’s been such a long time since she passed away. I used the technique repetition that I had seen Sandra Cisneros use in her story “Eleven. I used “Maybe it’s because ……” to help me show all the reasons why I was missing my grandma. I hope that’s what the reader notices too.
This week, Room 231 students need to write a reflection post on their own individual blogs.
We’re coming to the end of our first Investigations Unit 1 – Number Puzzles and Multiple Towers.
You need to reflect on their learning using the following questions as discussed in class.
What multiplication strategies do you use most often? Do you feel confident about solving a problem such as 47 x 63 ? What helps you solve this kind of problem?
What about division? Do you feel confident solving a problem such as 126 ÷ 14 ? What helps you solve that kind of problem?
What is still difficult for you in multiplication & division? What work do you need to do to become more efficient at solving multiplication problems? What about division problems?
