This 2014 British-German film captures the life of Rosie (Lily Collins) and Alex (Sam Claflin) who have been best friends since the age of 5, standing by each other’s sides through thick and thin. After a few missed opportunities, coincidences, and decisions that determine their future, Alex and Rosie navigate through the challenges of life, love, and friendship.  to be enrolled in U.S colleges falls apart when Rosie is forced to stay in Dublin and Alex half-way across the world to pursue his dreams. Yet, Collins and Claflin perfectly portray these characters who constantly find their way back to each other. A heart-warming film that captures the idea of finding “the one” and making the right choices even when they take your life in a different direction.

When Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock), an executive editor of a book publishing company finds out that she is being deported to Canada, she blackmails her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to “marry” her. In return, she will promote him to an editor position and publish his book. They head over to immigration and meet Mr. Gilbertson (Denis O’Hare) who immediately realizes their situation and questions them. Ultimately, they tell Mr. Gilbertson that they are going to announce their engagement in Sitka, Alaska.

Andrew brings Margaret to Sitka, for his grandmother’s ninetieth birthday.  family convinces them to marry in their barn as it is a Paxton tradition. Andrew’s family becomes fond of their “relationship” and treat Margaret as one of their own. Andrew and Margaret begin to develop real feelings for each other just as Mr. Gilbertson shows up in Sitka. They follow through with their marriage for the sake of his family and their precarious consequences. Not only is the plot full of surprises, Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynold’s chemistry make this film undeniably captivating for people of all ages.

The story follows many relationships through their highs and lows throughout Valentine’s Day.
