JV Girls Soccer Scare Shrewsbury Storm

The JV Girls Soccer team welcomed the Shrewsbury Storm to our beautiful confines on Wednesday, September 21.

The game conditions at kickoff were very strange; an intense heat with intermittent downpours made the field soft and slippery. Additionally, the players were joined by hundreds of dragonflies on the pitch, flying high and circling the field like predators.

The Panthers immediately put the pressure on their opponent, pressing and pushing all over the field. Shrewsbury struck first however, opening the score with a 20 meter screamer to the top corner. The Panthers quickly regrouped. equalizing one minute later on a powerful kick just out of reach of the keeper. The Panthers utilized the momentum and continued to dominate the game, scoring just before the half time.

The second period mirrored the first. The Panthers kept ball possession while Shrewsbury was content to counter attack. The Storm created an opportunity on the breakaway and managed to score, bringing the game level at 2-2.

ISB had to be happy with their team effort, as they created many chances over the course of the contest. Although the game officially ended in a draw, the two teams played a friendly third period where ISB scored won the rubber match to walk away satisfied with a job well done. Way to go, Panthers!
