ES Parent e-learning Handbook
1. What is the purpose of this handbook?
ISB maintains a contingency plan for continued learning when extraordinary events may force a closure of the school. When such a situation arises, we will activate ISB e-Learning and continue education through online learning. During these closures, we will use a combination of Internet tools and resources to keep our students connected, as much as possible, to their current classroom teachers and peers.
ISB e-Learning is intended to maintain continuity of curriculum delivery and teacher student interaction within reasonable parameters. All students are required to participate.
2. ISB Communications
During times of e-learning, ISB will use several methods to communicate with students and families. Important school-wide messages and updates will be delivered through SMS, eNews and the Parent Portal on the ISB Website: https://www.isb.ac.th/Parent_Portal/default.aspx
All ISB faculty and staff are available through email, see links below for staff directory:

3. Organization and expectations during e-Learning
When e-Learning is activated:
- All students are expected to participate in e-Learning. In exceptional circumstances, students that are unable to participate should notify the school and will be given special consideration.
- ISB will follow a modified daily schedule (see below). We are aware families may have evacuated to different time zones and obviously will need to make allowances for this. The modified schedule assists in keeping students in a fixed routine.
- Teachers will communicate daily with parents and students through their class blog, (and by email if necessary). However it will be the responsibility of parents to facilitate much of their child(ren)’s learning such as being at their children’s sides to read, talk about and encourage when eLearning is under way.
- Students are expected to follow the schedule below.
Grade | Time |
PreK-2 | 1-2 hours |
3-5 | 2-3 hours |
4. Delivery of instruction
During times of school closure and when eLearning is activated, the parents of elementary students will be the primary educators for their children. This will involve managing internet access, reading materials and acting as paraprofessional educators.
Elementary school teachers will communicate learning tasks daily to parents and students through their class blog. If necessary email may also be used for communication and/or clarification. However it will be the responsibility of parents to facilitate much of their child(ren)’s learning such as being at their children’s sides to read, talk about and encourage when eLearning is under way.
5. Requirements from home
Students will need:
- access to a reliable internet connected computer.
- a responisble adult to facilitate the learning.
- a dedicated place to focus on their learning.
