Message from HS Principal

Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

We are excited to be back at school preparing for the school year ahead. Our new faculty have already started at school and have been welcomed into the fold and are quickly orienting themselves to Thailand and ISB. Our returning teachers are back in school on Thursday and are looking forward to connecting with their colleagues and of course, seeing their students next week.

Speaking of new, we also have more than 80 new students and their families joining the High School this year and they will be on campus Tuesday morning meeting counselors, the High School Admin team, and their ISB student buddy (or student ambassador). To our returning families, please keep a welcoming lookout for our new families as they join our community at the start of the school year.

We are equally excited to be able to start the school year in person on Wednesday, August 9th with nearly 630 students in the High School (with maybe a few more joining us soon). We will open the first day of school on Wednesday, August 9th with a special schedule that will include an extended advisory session and a whole HS assembly to welcome everyone back to school.

I trust everyone enjoyed (and is still enjoying) a relaxing and restful summer with opportunities to connect with families and friends. We are energized and ready to go for the school year in front of us and we are so much looking forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks.

See you soon!

Regards
Justin Alexander
High School Principal

andyv@isb.ac.th

It has been fantastic to have all our full faculty back on campus today as they joined our new staff who have been taking part in their orientation to ISB over the past week. We are excited to be welcoming all our High School students back to campus next week as we kick off the school year.

A detailed Enews will be sent next week with schedules for the first day, which will include key reminders for the start of school. In the meantime, please note the following key events for your child as they prepare for school.

New Student Orientation -Tuesday 8 August, 8.50am – 12.00pm (Meet at Panther)

All new students and families will need to attend this event. Please note that G9 students need to remain for their G9 Orientation.

Grade 9 Orientation -Tuesday 8 August from 12.45pm – 2.30pm  (CCT)

Please note that all Grade 9’s need to attend this event. Students will be issued their laptop, ID card and will be introduced to their Advisory for this year.

First Day Schedule -Wednesday 9 August

High School will follow an alternate day schedule on day one. For students in Grade 9,10 and 12 this will include a number of class meetings and a full rotation where students get to meet their new teachers. Grade 11’s will be taking part in a special day preparing for their final two years of school. Detailed schedules will be shared next week with parents and students, however all students will start their day in advisory at 7.50am.

Uniform Sales

New uniforms will be available for purchase along with the old uniforms on Monday and Tuesday next week at the uniform and bookstore sales. Please note that this year will be a transition year from our old uniforms to the new uniforms, students will be allowed to wear either uniform during the 2023-24 school year.

Next week we will also share information about attendance and absences, driving to school, dress code, schedule changes and further start of school information.

We wish you all the best for the final days of your break and look forward to seeing you soon on campus!

Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year. The university counselors are eager to work with students and families as this new year begins!

We welcome Mr. Doug McQueen to our team in place of Mr. Becker. Mr. McQueen is joining ISB after serving as a counselor at American School in Japan and International School Manila. We will formally introduce him to families at our first grade level university nights and University Coffee mornings.

Grade 12 parents mark your calendars! The grade 12 Family University Night will be on Thursday, 24 August at 6:30 PM in the CCT. We look forward to kicking off the university applications process with seniors then!

Grade 11 parents, the Grade 11 Family University Night will be on Thursday, 28 September at 6:30 PM in CCT.

As always, please reach out to your child’s university counselor if you have questions about the university application process.

Here’s to a great year!

Kindly,
Debbie

HS Musical – ‘Legally Blonde’ – auditions coming soon!

Anthony Giles
anthonyg@isb.ac.th

Auditions for the fall musical, Legally Blonde, will be taking place on Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th of August in the CCT from 3-5pm. Information about any preparation needed will be in the high school bulletin from the first day of school, but be prepared to attend all three days!

Legally Blonde is the story of Elle Woods, a blonde sorority queen who is dumped by her boyfriend for not being ‘serious enough’. After she decides to follow him to law school to attempt to win him back, she learns that there is so much more to everyone than just looks. The musical addresses issues of judgment and stereotyping, and works to empower everyone no matter who they are or what they look like!
