Message from HS Principal

Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

We are finished!

I am writing this short end-of-year message just after our final assembly, where we said goodbye and good luck to our departing students and teachers. We ended our assembly with a special farewell to our Head of School Dr. Davies who has given 30 years of service to ISB and also served as a High School English teacher, Vice Principal, and High School Principal as well. Earlier in the assembly we also passed on our gratitude and thanks to the teachers below who are leaving ISB at the end of this year

Jasmine Topp (1 year)
Skye Jamieson (1 year)
Maddie Meredith (1 year)
Alex Becker (4 years)
Julie Lamontagne (4 years)
Becky Hansberry (10 years)
Ken Hansberry (10 years)
Jaleea Price (17 years)
Gaby Geneser (23 years)
Cameron Macky (26 years)

We wish all families a safe and enjoyable summer break (or winter if you are heading south) and  look forward to welcoming everyone back to ISB on Wednesday, August 9th.

Have a great break

Justin Alexander
High School Principal

Final Reminders for parents of Seniors

Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

Almost all our Seniors have now collected their Senior Graduation Photos and Yearbooks. If your Senior has yet to come and complete this, they can still do so over the holidays as the High School office will be open throughout the most of the break.

ID Card Refunds: Please note that there are no mass ID Card refunds this year. If your child’s ISB Campus Card has a sizable amount of money on it and if you have no other remaining siblings at ISB enrolled for the 2023-24 school year, please contact the business office to get a refund from your campus card. Refunds were available from 1 June 2023.

IB Results Reminder: IB Results will be available on July 6th at 12 GMT via the IB Website (https://candidates.ibo.org). Students need their Personal PIN and other IB data to access their results. Please ensure that your child has taken a screenshot of their IB Program Page from PowerSchool.

Yearbook Distribution

Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

Students in Grade 9-11 received their Yearbook in advisory on Wednesday of this week. If your child was away for the final days of school, we will hold their yearbook for them to pick up when they return in August. If you return to Nichada earlier, please drop by the High School office to pick this up.

Thank you for the student Yearbook team who have created an amazing yearbook this year!

Semester Report Cards

Justyna McMillan
justynam@isb.ac.th

Student Report Cards have been posted on PowerSchool. These include Semester Grades and HAL progress, but no comments. As ISB continues to be ‘greener’ and timely we issue report cards through the PowerSchool Quick Lookup page. On the Quicklook Up page use the link at the top right to access a PDF report card for your son/daughter. The report can be saved and filed electronically and / or printed.

Please note that parents will be unable to access report cards through Powerschool if a report card hold has been placed on a student account.  If a report card hold has occurred, parents will be notified via an automated email from Powerschool.

For students taking courses with Pamoja or GOA, grades will be communicated directly from the course providers to the students.

If you have any questions, please contact the Dean of Academics, Justyna McMillan.

Predicted Grades for Gr11 IB students

Justyna McMillan
justynam@isb.ac.th

The first round of IB Predicted Grades have been uploaded onto PowerSchool as a Report on Quick Lookup page.  IB Predicted Grades are an estimate of student performance in their IB subjects and may change as teachers gather more evidence. At this stage your child may have received a slash grade which is in between two levels .

The next update for IB Predicted Grades is October.

News from University Counselors
Debbie McDowell
debbiem@isb.ac.th

As we close out the 2022-2023 school year, the university counselors send our best wishes to all for a restful and happy summer.

As the grade 11 students plan for their senior year, here’s some ideas of how to best prepare for the next school year:

– Write your common app essay, UCAS personal statement, and/or other essays. Have them ready to review in August!

– Continue researching universities and programs to find those that are the best fit for you, academically, socially and financially.

– Prepare a final list of universities that includes likely, target, and reach institutions, to which you plan to apply. Then be prepared to discuss the list with me in August.

– Speak to your parents about their priorities and preferences for your university application process and outcomes. Know where you stand financially!

– Visit universities wherever you are! You can learn a lot, even if it’s not your first choice university!

– For full IB Diploma candidates, get that EE done! Have the rough draft ready to turn in by the start of school in August! This one thing will make your life amazingly better.

– And most importantly, please take time for yourself this summer, have some fun, and relax!

ISB and the university counselors want to wish Mr. Becker the best as he moves on from ISB and will begin his new job at International School of Belgrade in Serbia next year. We will miss him!  Mr. Doug McQueen will be joining ISB in August. We look forward to working with Mr. McQueen next year.

And finally, University counselors will be on holiday starting on 16 June through 9 August.  Of course, university counselors will be checking IB scores in early July and available for consultation with the recent graduates about their university placement at that time. Otherwise, university counselors will not be responding to general emails and requests during the summer holiday. For any pressing questions, please contact Khun Fon, the ISB Registrar, by email (supanniy@isb.ac.th) or call 02-963-5890 during school hours.

Kindly,
Debbie
