Message from the Principal

Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

We have enjoyed a different week at school with students taking their exams and then heading home to study. As a result, it has been a quiet week at school although having a few therapy dogs in the HS office has created a bit of extra foot traffic in the HS office as students come in to pat a dog before their Physics or Psychology exam.

Everyone will benefit from a long weekend coming up and when we return on Wednesday, teachers will be able to begin going through exam papers and reviewing materials with students. The feedback given and shared will be as equally important for the learning process as the actual taking of exams, so we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Wednesday ready to review their great work!

Have a great weekend and see you next week.

Justin Alexander
High School Principal

Senior Graduation Photos & Yearbook

Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

Seniors will be able to come in next week on Thursday and Friday to pick up their Senior Graduation Photos and Yearbook. Students will be emailed with exact details on how this will take place.

ID Card Refunds: Please note that there are no mass ID Card refunds this year. If your child’s ISB Campus Card has a sizable amount of money on it and if you have no other remaining siblings at ISB enrolled for the 2023-24 school year, please contact the business office to get a refund from your campus card. Refunds are available from 1 June 2023.

IB Results Reminder: IB Results will be available on July 6th at 12 GMT via the IB Website (https://candidates.ibo.org). Students need their Personal PIN and other IB data to access their results. Please ensure that your child has taken a screenshot of their IB Program Page from PowerSchool before they graduate, which will allow them to download their results.

For students that need to send an IB transcript to their university or college, students should order their transcript using the IB Results Transcript Request form. Please fill this in by June 1st for all countries apart from USA / Canada which has a July 1st deadline. Students can request up to 6 institutions, free of charge.

SAT this Saturday

If your child is registered for the SAT on June 3, please be informed that this administration of the SAT is a digital one. On test day, students must bring their school laptop fully charged with the Bluebook app already downloaded. By using the school laptop, they will be able to connect to the school wifi. If the laptop is fully charged, they should be able to use the laptop for the full duration of the test without needing to recharge. The test is 2 hours and 15 minutes, unless the student has accommodations for extra time. Students  must be able to present an admission ticket on test day. On test day, students must arrive outside of the MPB by 7:30 am. Students will be checked in twice – once outside MPB, and once inside the testing room.

To minimize any issues on test day, the laptop should be configured to prevent common interruptions such as: antivirus scans, screensavers, sleep or hibernate mode, automatic software or application updates, alerts from email/calendar/texts/instant messengers.

Other than their laptop, students must bring: passport or Thai ID, admission ticket, pencils for scratch work, charging cable.

Students may also want to bring: water and snacks, an acceptable calculator (there will be a built-in calculator so this is not required)

Students may not bring:

  • anything else that connects to the internet (e.g. mobile phones, smartwatches, a second laptop, tablet etc.)
  • Bluetooth devices (e.g. wireless headphones)
  • timers (we will have one available)
  • cameras
  • highlighters or colored pencils
  • books
  • compasses, rulers, protractors, or cutting devices
  • papers of any kind (students will be provided scratch paper)
  • earplugs
  • unacceptable calculators

Please confirm with your child if they are scheduled to take the SAT on Saturday.

Graduates, Class of 2023
Just a reminder that if your recently graduated child has not completed their university applications, make sure that they set an appointment with their university counselor before the end of the school year so that there is a plan in place for sending application materials (transcripts) to the universities to which they still will be applying.  The final transcript request deadline before the summer was June 1.

Grade 11 students have been checking in with their university counselors and should continue to do that leading up to the end of school in a few weeks. It is important that they have spoken to their counselor about their university application draft essay and their university considering list before they depart for the summer.

University counselors will be on holiday starting on 16 June through 9 August.  Please be sure to connect with them before school is finished this year if you have any questions or concerns.  Of course, university counselors will be checking IB scores in early July and available for consultation with the recent graduates about their university placement at that time. Otherwise, university counselors will not be responding to general emails and requests during the summer holiday.

For more university counseling information, please check the ISB University Counseling website. There you’ll find university research tools, transition resources, recordings and slide shows from Parent Coffees and other presentations, virtual and off campus university visits, information about testing and how to sign up for the SAT at ISB, a database of summer programs, and the ISB School Profile.

Kindly,
Debbie

We’re so proud of all HS students for finishing exam week strong! We know it’s been a lot of hard work, and it is perfect timing to have this long weekend to rest and recharge for the final days of school. Please encourage your children to unplug, spend time outside, and get much-needed sleep!

Students will have recently received their schedules for the next school year. They are welcome to come and see their counselors with any questions or changes from now until the end of the school year. We can also make schedule changes once we resume school in August.

For any questions or concerns, please contact the HS counselors.

Panther Activities and Athletics Summer Camp Registration Opens June 1st

Anthony Giles
anthonyg@isb.ac.th

With the successful launch of our new after school activities/athletics registration program, CCA through PowerSchool will once again be used for our Panther Activities and Athletics Camps. Please note that registration through CCA requires payment to be completed within an hour of sign ups.

We will open CCA Registration for Summer camps from Thursday, June 1st at 6:00pm until Thursday, June 15th at 12:00pm. After that time, it will not be possible to add any students to any sports camp program or switch the program.

Camp dates are on Monday to Friday for the following period:

  1. June 19 – July 7, 2023

Transition
Campers who are currently G1 and Under will be required to have parents, guardians or nannies to be responsible for the camp transition during camps. No transportation, lunch or snacks are provided during camp. Please have kids bring their own water bottle. We no longer provide the paper cups on campus.

Refunds for camp
The reason  we would consider a refund is:

  1. Your child has a medical issue that requires them to stop an activity (documentation is required).

Note:

If the number of students who sign up for summer camp is less than the minimum requirement, the program will be canceled, with refunds issued.

For questions about Panther Activities please contact Khun Bee at panchary@isb.ac.th. For questions about Panther Athletics please contact Khun Fon at punnanuw@isb.ac.th  or Khun Ning at walleeb@isb.ac.th
