ES e-News for May 26, 2023

A special thank you goes out to all of the parents who reached out to the various ES faculty and staff members during this past week! The PTA staff appreciation luncheon on Tuesday was a highlight of the week for all ISB faculty and staff…thank you!

A special thank you also goes out to the ES PTA leaders for coordinating various special messages of appreciation for teachers…including the transformation of the ES Cafeteria to the ES Faculty and Staff Appreciation Gallery! We’ll keep it up for another week so you can stop by and check it out.

ISB teachers and instructional assistants care deeply for each student and their families…we know the feelings are mutual and appreciate all you have done to support our teachers this past week and throughout the school year!

Wow…that was a lot “!!!s” for one short update!

ES ‘Out of Uniform’ Day – June 1 & 2

These two days are ‘Out of School Uniform’ days in the Elementary School.  On PE days, students need to wear their PE uniforms.  On their non PE day, students may choose to not wear their ISB uniform.

Appropriate dress guidelines for our ‘Out of School Uniform’ days are listed in the ES Student/Parent Handbook.

ES PE Water Extravaganza

Dear Parents,

Our annual PE Celebration of Learning, Water Extravaganza is two weeks away – June 8 for grades KG, 2, 4 and June 9 for grades 1, 3, 5.  Students will participate in the Water Extravaganza for a double block, so they will not be going to their other special on this day.  Students will be outside participating in a variety of water themed games and activities (Grades 4 and 5 will also use the pools).

Students need a swim bag containing the following items:

  • Swimsuit or other “water clothes” (Since Grades 4 and 5 students have PE first thing in the morning, they should come to school wearing their swimsuits under PE clothes)
  • A change of clothes – students must change out of their wet clothes when finished, except students in Grades 2 and 3 if they are going home right after school, and not taking a bus
  • Towel
  • Shoes – we recommend students wear sandals/crocs/water shoes to this event
  • Water bottle – students will be active and need to stay hydrated
  • Sunscreen – a face stick would be great and easy for students to use

Parents are more than welcome to come and watch, we will have a designated area for you.  We look forward to hosting what is always a great day and a memorable experience for our students.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us via email.

Yours in movement,
PE Team

Leaving ISB Parent Presentation

On Thursday, May 25th, members of the ISB counseling team (Shannon Leoni, Kathy Manu and Frank Sambula, Jr.) led a discussion about how to successfully transition your family if you are leaving ISB. If you are departing and were not able to attend, please refer to the slides and document. If you have any questions or concerns, please communicate directly with your child’s counselor. Wishing you all the best both in this time of transition and in your next life chapter!

ES Music Shares May 29-June 15 Room 4-115
This year, Music Shares will take place May 29-June 15! This is an opportunity for students to prepare music, drama, or dance performances to share with an audience of parents and their peers. Students are invited to perform a 2 to 3 minute piece that they have prepared outside of music class to share with their class. All Music Shares will be held in Mrs. Wong’s ES Music room, 4-115.

For more information, you can find the full schedule and sign-up form HERE!

Water Bottles Reminder
In accordance with our updated Recess Guidelines previously communicated please be sure, your child has their water bottle each day.  To ensure that students have access to sufficient hydration during recess, we ask that you send your student to school with a full water bottle, labeled with their name. Students will refill their water bottles prior to the start of recess and be encouraged  to drink at least four cups of water per day. Additionally, a mandatory structured hydration break will be implemented after 15 minutes of outside play during especially hot days.

Nut-Free @ISB’s campus

We ask parents to remember that ISB’s campus is nut-free and snacks from home should be as well.  With a diverse population many of our students have severe allergies to nuts and nut-containing products, so this measure helps reduce occurrences from accidental exposure.  For inquiries, please reach out to the ISB Health Center.

Important HUB End of Year Dates
Please note the student end of year dates below.
As an aside, it would be kind if you return ALL unused materials to the HUB/Bookroom ASAP, this helps us to inventory and catalog items before the end of the year:-)

Panther Activities and Athletics Summer Camp Registration Opens June 1st
With the successful launch of our new after school activities/athletics registration program, CCA through PowerSchool will once again be used for our Panther Activities and Athletics Camps. Please note that registration through CCA requires payment to be completed within an hour of sign ups.

We will open CCA Registration for Summer camps from Thursday, June 1st at 6:00pm until Thursday, June 15th at 12:00pm. After that time, it will not be possible to add any students to any sports camp program or switch the program.

Camp dates are on Monday to Friday for the following period:

  1. June 19 – July 7, 2023

Transition
Campers who are currently G1 and Under will be required to have parents, guardians or nannies to be responsible for the camp transition during camps. No transportation, lunch or snacks are provided during camp. Please have kids bring their own water bottle. We no longer provide the paper cups on campus.

Refunds for camp
The reason  we would consider a refund is:

  1. Your child has a medical issue that requires them to stop an activity (documentation is required).

Note:
If the number of students who sign up for summer camp is less than the minimum requirement, the program will be canceled, with refunds issued.

For questions about Panther Activities please contact Khun Bee at panchary@isb.ac.th. For questions about Panther Athletics please contact Khun Fon at punnanuw@isb.ac.th  or Khun Ning at walleeb@isb.ac.th

Invention Center After School & Saturday Programs
Come to the Invention Center on Saturday and make a Jianzi. This is a traditional Chinese game similar to hacky sack or footbag in other parts of the world. This is a free project open to any students, staff, or parents. There will be 6 spots each at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00. Contact Travis Dynes at travisd@isb.ac.th to sign up.

A reminder that the Invention Center is open to students, parents, and staff every day after school until 6pm and on Saturdays from 8am-2pm (elementary students need to have a parent present for supervision). PLEASE NOTE: We will close a little early this Saturday so Mr. Dynes can attend his son’s graduation.
