Graduation

Dear Parents,

It seems like my messages each week get shorter and shorter as we move closer to the end of the school year. Lots of celebrations do lie ahead with our Seniors graduating on Saturday and our end-of-year assembly is not that far away either. If you would like to watch the Graduation live you can do so by clicking HERE

We wish our Grade 9-11 students all the best with their week of exams that start on Monday and of course, we wish our Seniors all the best for their big day.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Student Course Selections for 2023-2024 now Posted on PowerSchool

Justyna McMillan
justynam@isb.ac.th

Student course selections for the next academic year have been posted to PowerSchool. Please note we do our best to ensure that students get their preferred course choices including electives. However, we do have to assign alternate courses in some instances where the specified selection did not work in the master schedule.

Each course listed represents a single semester of study in that course. Courses listed twice are year long courses. If corrections are needed, students should contact their counselor before the end of the day, June 16th. If the schedule has a notation to ‘See Counselor’ the student MUST contact their counselor before the end of the day, June 16th.

Please note: The master schedule still requires adjustment before school starts in August. It is possible that some classes will move periods or students will be shifted to balance class sizes before the semester starts. Students will have the first 8 days of school to make adjustments based on discussion with their counselor.

Grade Update and HAL progress available on PowerSchool from Monday 29th
Justyna McMillan
Justynam@isb.ac.th

If you have any questions about these grades or the HAL report, please contact the subject teacher or the student’s counselor.

The next and final grade update are the semester grades. These will be posted for students and parents on the last day of school on Friday June 16th.

DELVE Important Registration Information

Peter Assimakopoulos
petera@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

This week, DELVE registration started for all rising 12th and 10th graders. On May 30th, the rising 11th and 9th graders will register for their DELVE.

Below, please take a look at the registration information shared with your child. It is important to note after your child registers for a DELVE course, you will be notified via email and asked to accept or decline their choices. We would like all registration forms to be completed on or before June 1st, 2023.

Parents can view all the DELVE programs on the ISB website linked here and found through the search option on the school’s website.

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Mr Assimakopoulos (petera@isb.ac.th).

Thank you,
Peter

Registration Information shared with students:
Registration Checklist

Students should follow this checklist below to ensure that they are well prepared for DELVE Registration:

  • Check the courses offered on the CAS website. Select a trip that fits your passions and interests. Do not select trips so you can be with your friends. You will make new connections and friendships on DELVE!
  • Discuss with your parents how much cost your parents are willing to cover.
  • Choose your four courses, taking into consideration DELVE requirements and past choices.
  • Students can be placed in any of their four choices. To help with your selection, we will initially look at your first-choice option when placing students. If the course is full, we will move on to the second, and so forth.
  • Students that duplicate their selection by choosing the same trip are placing themselves at a disadvantage. By not providing a second, third or fourth choice to choose from, the student will be placed where spots are available after placing their entire grade level first.
  • Students are placed using the selected lucky number.
  • Information you will need before registering:
    • your Student ID number
  • Sign up on the appropriate night for registration – the registration form is open now.
  • After students select their four choices, parents will be sent an email to confirm they are comfortable with all of their child’s selections. Once parents have confirmed, we can start placing students. Talk with your parents after you submit the form to let them know they need to confirm your registration.

It is important to note that if you wish to change your choices above, you must schedule a time to meet with Mr Assimakopoulos immediately. Changing your selection will rank you lower on the order of priority. Unless you genuinely have to, it is best to keep your registration the same after completing the process.

News from University Counselors
Debbie McDowell
debbiem@isb.ac.th

Congratulations to the Class of 2023!  We are excited to celebrate as the senior class completes their high school years on Saturday at graduation. We wish each and every one of them the best as they set off for new adventures around the world!

Just a reminder that if your child has not completed their university applications, make sure that they set an appointment with their university counselor before the end of the school year so that there is a plan in place for sending application materials (transcripts) to the universities to which they still will be applying.  The final transcript request deadline before the summer is June 1.

Grade 11 students have been checking in with their university counselors this week and should continue to do that in the weeks before school ends in June. It is important that they have spoken to their counselor about their university application draft essay and their university considering list.

University counselors will be on holiday starting on 16 June through 9 August.  Please be sure to connect with them before school is finished this year if you have any questions or concerns.  Of course, university counselors will be checking IB scores in early July and available for consultation with the recent graduates about their university placement at that time. Otherwise, university counselors will not be responding to general emails and requests during the summer holiday.

For more university counseling information, please check the ISB University Counseling website. There you’ll find university research tools, transition resources, recordings and slide shows from Parent Coffees and other presentations, virtual and off campus university visits, information about testing and how to sign up for the SAT at ISB, a database of summer programs, and the ISB School Profile.

Kindly,
Debbie

Panther Activities and Athletics Summer Camp Registration Opens June 1st

Anthony Giles
anthonyg@isb.ac.th

With the successful launch of our new after school activities/athletics registration program, CCA through PowerSchool will once again be used for our Panther Activities and Athletics Camps. Please note that registration through CCA requires payment to be completed within an hour of sign ups.

We will open CCA Registration for Summer camps from Thursday, June 1st at 6:00pm until Thursday, June 15th at 12:00pm. After that time, it will not be possible to add any students to any sports camp program or switch the program.

Camp dates are on Monday to Friday for the following period:

  1. June 19 – July 7, 2023

Transition

Campers who are currently G1 and Under will be required to have parents, guardians or nannies to be responsible for the camp transition during camps. No transportation, lunch or snacks are provided during camp. Please have kids bring their own water bottle. We no longer provide the paper cups on campus.

Refunds for camp

The reason  we would consider a refund is:

  1. Your child has a medical issue that requires them to stop an activity (documentation is required).

Note:

If the number of students who sign up for summer camp is less than the minimum requirement, the program will be canceled, with refunds issued.

For questions about Panther Activities please contact Khun Bee at panchary@isb.ac.th. For questions about Panther Athletics please contact Khun Fon at punnanuw@isb.ac.th  or Khun Ning at walleeb@isb.ac.th

Exams for Grade 9-11 Students (Repeat)

Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

The 9-11 exams are starting on Monday May 29th and run through till Friday June 2nd.  Individual student exam schedules have been posted on PowerSchool, however  HERE is an overall schedule.

There are two exam slots per day:

  • 8:00 – 10:00  AM Session
  • 12:00 – 14:00  PM Session

Students should arrive for each exam at least 15 minutes ahead of time and go straight to the exam venue area. Room and seating charts will be updated on a daily basis and posted outside of the MPB for Gr11 students or the English and Math Quad for Gr 9-10 students.

Students are only required to be in school for their exam, although they are of course welcome to use the library or other quiet study spaces in between exams.

These exams are mandatory for all students. If your child is sick during exam week, please inform the HS office as soon as possible and make sure to obtain a medical certificate. We will endeavour to reschedule the student’s exam during the next available slot in the schedule.

We wish all our students the best of luck for their exams!
