Exams for Grade 9-11 Students
Justyna McMillan
justynam@isb.ac.th
Dear Parents,
The 9-11 exams are coming up soon. These are scheduled from Monday May 29th – Friday June 2nd. Please note that individual student exam schedules have been posted on PowerSchool, however HERE is an overall schedule of exams which now includes specific room assignments as well as conflict exam timetables.
There are two exam slots per day:
- 8:00 – 10:00 AM Session
- 12:00 – 14:00 PM Session
Students should arrive for each exam at least 15 minutes ahead of time and go straight to the exam venue area. Room and seating charts will be updated on a daily basis and posted outside of the MPB for Gr11 students or the English and Math Quad for Gr 9-10 students.
Students are only required to be in school for their exam, although they are of course welcome to use the library or other quiet study spaces in between exams. In order to have flexible access to campus during exam week, parent permission is required to allow students to leave campus during the school day.
If your child is sick during exam week, please inform the HS office as soon as possible and make sure to obtain a medical certificate. We will endeavour to reschedule the student’s exam during the next available slot in the schedule.
We wish all our students the best of luck for their exams!
DELVE

The DELVE eFair has officially opened! Please ask your child to open the CAS website where all the course offerings are listed. For safeguarding purposes, our website is protected from public view and is only viewable to anyone who has an “@isb” email address.
Parents who wish to view the course offerings can also access the DELVE Handbook on the ISB website. Please note an email that went to all students today below:
Dear Students,
Finally here! The website for all our DELVE trips is live. Have a read and familiarise yourself with all the offers. Remember to speak with your parents before making any decisions on DELVE.
May 19th (today): DELVE eFair – all courses found on the CAS website for students to review the course offerings.
May 25th: DELVE Q&A and Lucky Number Draw- during advisory, students can ask specific questions about trips they are interested in.
May 25th (Grade 11 and 9) & May 30th (Grade 10 and 8): Students registering for their DELVE trips.
As you learn more about the trips for November 2023, pay close attention to the departure and arrival days for the trips. The IASAS Season Two Invitationals will run from Friday the 17th to the 19th of November. This is for IASAS Season Two Varsity Invitationals (Swimming, Touch, Rugby, Tennis, Basketball) only.
It is important to note that students will not be permitted to switch in or out of their DELVE placements after September 1st. Students that ask to change their placement after this date could be required to pay the full cost of the DELVE trip they are switching out of in addition to the cost of their new placement.
Registration Process
Students should follow this checklist to ensure that they are well-prepared for DELVE Registration.
- Students will register online via an online form sent directly to their email. The form has a unique password that will be shared via email prior to registration.
- Choose four trips based on your preference. The order of priority of your selections will be taken into consideration.
- All our trips have a limited number of spaces for each grade level. Some trips can be quite popular and fill up quickly. Therefore, it is really important that you select a variety of trips you are interested in.
- Students that duplicate their selection by choosing the same trip are placing themselves at a disadvantage. By not providing a second, third or fourth choice to choose from, the student will be placed where spots are available after placing their entire grade level first.
Student Responsibilities
- Students may not select a course that they have already participated in during previous years.
- Students are not assigned to courses “so that they can be with their friends”.
- Get familiar with all the courses on offer and the videos found on the CAS website
- Discuss with your parents how much cost your parents are willing to cover.
- Choose your top courses taking into consideration DELVE requirements and past choices.
- Sign up on the appropriate night for registration.
- Obtain parental approval BEFORE registering for any course.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

SAT registration deadline for the 3 June exam is 19 May (today). Students must register on the College Board website. Instructions on how to register are here. Students who have registered have access to four, full-length practice tests in Bluebook™, the new digital testing app. Encourage them to download Bluebook now so they’ll have plenty of time to prepare. Students also have access to Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy®.
Ms McDowell has been away from the office this week while she attends the Global International Forum & Workshop in London, UK. Along with the workshop, she is visiting numerous universities and participating in the first ever Times Higher Education Counselor Accreditation Program. We are looking forward to welcoming her back to the office next week!
Grade 11 students will be shifting their focus to final exams. However, we encourage students to set at least one more appointment to meet with their university counselor to review their draft university application essays and talk about the universities on their Considering List in MaiaLearning before the summer break.
Grade 12 students must check in with their university counselor to complete their check out form and confirm their university plans. Final ISB transcripts will be sent out in June to the university that students have indicated on their check out form. Please talk to your senior to make sure that their final destination has been relayed to their counselor. If your senior is still applying to universities, the final transcript request deadline before the summer is June 1.
Please encourage your child to consistently check the Virtual and Off Campus University Events spreadsheet to know what’s available. Please note that pre-registration is needed for some events.
For more university counseling information, please check the ISB University Counseling website. There you’ll find university research tools, transition resources, recordings and slide shows from Parent Coffees and other presentations, virtual and off campus university visits, information about testing and how to sign up for the SAT at ISB, a database of summer programs, and the ISB School Profile.

In the next couple of weeks, students will have access to their 23/24 class schedule. We will notify them as soon as they are available in PowerSchool. Please encourage your student to take a look and speak with their school counselor (Ms. Leoni, Mr. Sambula Jr. or Ms. Valenzuela) if they have any questions. If a student wants to make a change to their schedule, we are always open to looking to see if it is possible. It is better to take care of this now rather than waiting until August.
