Celebrations

Justin Alexander

Dear High School Parents,

If you are in the vicinity of the front gates of school, then please come inside, park your car or golf cart and take 15 minutes to have a good look at the wonderful Senior portraits that are now hanging on the fences around the front gate of ISB. These have been drawn by our wonderful Elementary school students who have been working on these portraits for the past few weeks. They are absolutely fantastic and every Senior has one or more portraits hanging on the fence. Thank you to our wonderful ES Art teachers (Ms. Nichols and Mrs. Harter) for leading this wonderful annual project.

In the spirit of celebrating our Seniors, the ISB community in Nichada are cordially invited to step out of their homes and onto the curb of the streets of Nichada next Saturday (May 20th) at 8.30am to watch the 4th annual ISB Senior Golf Cart parade.

The route and timings are listed HERE

Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you on the streets of Nichada on Saturday May 20th.

Senior Students Equipment and Book Returns

Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

This coming week will conclude all classes for Seniors with less than 3 IB/AP exams on Tuesday and all IB/AP exams will wrap up on Friday. If your Senior has finished their examinations and/or classes they need to return all their books and complete their Class of 2023 Clearance Form, which were handed out on April 20 and are due by May 19.

In order to complete this form seniors need to return all books and equipment from their classes and have their teachers sign to confirm all has been turned back in. The form also needs to be signed by the Library and other office staff.

Please note that there are no mass ID Card refunds this year. If your child’s ISB Campus Card has a sizable amount of money on it and if you have no other remaining siblings at ISB enrolled for the 2023-24 school year, please contact the business office to get a refund from your campus card. Refunds will not be given for a smaller amount of cash on the campus card, so please encourage your child to finish up the load on the card by graduation.

We look forward to our Seniors starting their celebrations next weekend with our Senior Golf Cart Parade and Prom on 20 May and the following week’s Graduation activities!

As a reminder, IB Results will be available on July 6th at 12 GMT via the IB Website (https://candidates.ibo.org). Students need their Personal PIN and other IB data to access their results. Please ensure that your child has taken a screenshot of their IB Program Page from PowerSchool before they graduate, which will allow them to download their results.

For students that need to send an IB transcript to their university or college, students should order their transcript using the IB Results Transcript Request form. Please fill this in by June 1st for all countries apart from USA / Canada which has a July 1st deadline. Students can request up to 6 institutions, free of charge.

Thank you to those who attended the final Parent University Coffee on Friday. We reviewed the events that the university counselors presented this year and took on ideas from those present about what worked well this year and what suggestions they have for next year. The university counselors had a busy year doing 15 Parent University Coffees plus 4 Family University Night presentations. We are looking forward to and planning for next year’s events already!

Ms McDowell will be away from the office next week while she attends the Global International Forum & Workshop in London, UK. Along with the workshop, she will be visiting numerous universities and participating in the first ever Times Higher Education Counselor Accreditation Program. The other three university counselors will be in the office and available for any questions from students and parents during the week.

Grade 11 students should be setting appointments to meet with their university counselor to review their draft university application essays and talking about the universities on their Considering List in MaiaLearning. Please encourage your child to get this appointment set!

Grade 12 students who are finishing up their IB exams must check in with their university counselor to confirm their university plans. The students must confirm their university choice to ensure that the final ISB transcript will be sent to their university. Please talk to your senior to make sure that this information has been confirmed.

Upcoming University Visits:

The final university visits at ISB will be in the next week:

Thursday, 18 May, Sogang University (Korea), 3:00-3:40 @ HS Conference Room

Please encourage your child to consistently check the Virtual and Off Campus University Events spreadsheet to know what’s available. Please note that pre-registration is needed for some events.

Please check the ISB University/College Counseling website for useful information. You will find university research tools, transition resources for students and parents, recordings and slide shows from Parent Coffees and family presentations, virtual and off campus university visits, information about testing and how to sign up for the SAT at ISB, a list of summer programs about which the counselors have been informed, and the ISB School Profile.

Kindly,
Debbie

ISB Pathways Program and Careers Fair

Anthony Giles
anthonyg@isb.ac.th

Dear ISB Community,

We are two eleventh-grade students who are relaunching an event that ISB used to host pre-COVID, Pathways. Please read on for more information.

The ISB Pathways Program seeks to better connect our students with alumni and friends of ISB, who are making a difference through their work in the real world. Through Pathways, we will develop a bank of contact information for individuals with a variety of career experiences for our students to be able to reach out to, collaborate with, and learn from. ISB has offered successful career internship programs for years and career resources through our counseling department but Pathways provides a chance for us to expand our efforts and better utilize our extensive network of alumni, parents, and partner businesses to serve our students better.

ISB is hosting a Pathways Career Fair for high school students and we are asking current professionals or businesses in Thailand to host a table on June 7, 2023. It is a chance to promote your company and your programs and share your experiences and expertise with students currently navigating their choices of study and career.

Please register your interest in supporting this initiative HERE. Deadline: May 19th, 2023

We would love your contribution!

We’re Back, Again!
