Weekly Message from Principal Allen
On Monday I had the privilege of being interviewed to support some new content on the front page of the new ISB website which gave me the opportunity to reflect on the topic “Why Choose ISB?” in addition to a couple other questions.
I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of schools, and was thrilled to speak about ISB being a top-tier international school that prioritizes meeting the needs of all learners in our care. The key word being ALL! This is why I continue to choose ISB as a leader and parent.
The ISB faculty and staff fully understand that every child is unique and has different strengths, interests, and learning styles, and are committed to ensuring that all children can achieve their full potential. ISB teachers are highly trained, experienced and engaged professionals who are dedicated to creating a positive and nurturing learning environment for all students. They are committed to working in partnership with families in order to best meet the unique needs of each child, and they use a variety of teaching methods and strategies to engage students and promote deep learning.
The interview also allowed me to reflect on the importance of a robust extracurricular program for students. A well-rounded education is essential for preparing students for success in life, and ISB provides a wide range of opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop their talents, and try new things. As I shared during the interview, our ISB mission emphasizes the importance of leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle and our extracurricular programs allow our students to achieve this.
Other members of our community were also interviewed including one of our ISB parents as well as two students…be sure to take a look at their interviews as you explore the new website! https://www.isb.ac.th/
Your partner in education,
Michael Allen

Hand, Foot, and Mouth
This week 4 cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth have been reported, three of which were linked to outside-school transmission. We encourage families to keep ill students at home and are grateful families alerted our office. Students with a fever should be a minimum of 24 hours free of symptoms without fever-reducing medication before returning to school. We request that families who are diagnosed with an infectious disease including Influenza, Covid-19, or herpangina to please reach out to either the ES office or the ISB Health Center once they are diagnosed. Beginning Band Drive is back on Saturday, May 6
Date: Saturday, May 6, 2023
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Location: MS Band Room (4-107) on the first floor of the Cultural Center (CC)
On Saturday, May 6, ISB will hold its annual Beginning Band Drive for current grade 4, 5 and MS students that would like to try different band instruments like the trumpet, saxophone, flute, etc. During this time, students can try out the many different band instruments with the help of experts to find out which instrument they may enjoy and which instrument best suits them. All of the possible band instruments include: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion (drums and mallets).
The ISB Middle School Band program has a reputation as being one of the finest in international schools. This year for the 11th year in a row, and for the 15th out of the past 16 years, ISB has sent more students than any other school to the prestigious AMIS Asian Middle School Honor Band Festival. Student musicians audition for this festival through a rigorous blind audition process, competing with all other IASAS schools as well as international schools in South Korea, China and Japan.
To take part in the Beginning Band Drive on May 6, please sign up using the Google form that can be found linked here. It includes specific time/sign-up information. Finding the right instrument that best suits your child is a very important process.
If you have questions, please feel free to email Brent Poling <brentp@isb.ac.th>.
Best regards,
Brent Poling and Kentaro Udagawa
