Change of Date – Parent Session on Social Media

Last week we shared that we would soon be hosting a parent session on MS students and Social Media. In planning for this event, we now see an advantage in joining forces with the HS counseling team to present on Social Media through all of these years. This allows MS parents to look ahead and anticipate the years ahead.

As such, we are changing the date of our session to March 23rd.

Here is our original posting:

As many parents know, middle school is a time when social media starts to take a large role in the lives of MS students. Our MS Counselors will be hosting a parent session on issues to be aware of regarding social media and MS-aged students. More information will be coming soon, but for now, if this interests you, please hold the date and time in your calendars.

New Date: March 23rd, (Time to be determined)
Parent Presentation on MS & HS Students and Social Media
hosted by the MS & HS Counselors.

Mix it up for joy!

Friday, February 10th the grade 6 students took the opportunity (with the grade 8 away on a thier trip and the grade 7 students taking the ISA) to mix up the schedule. We have been watching the movie inside out to describe our emotions and decided that the theme of the Mix It Up Day was Joy! We kicked off our day of joy with student comedic performers, riding a roller coaster together, and explaining how we can enrich our community with more joy by demonstrating our ISB values.

In separate groups, students chose an ISB value to focus on and discussed and ideated ways to bring more Joy connected to that ISB value.

After the students did some thoughtful work in groups unpacking the values designing new ways to demonstrate the values, students got to choose an activity that brought them joy. Activities ranged from VR Experiences, Reading, Dancing, Watercoloring, and even Rubix Cubes!

We ended in the new sports complex with activities in the gym as a final celebration!

March 8th is International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country-, group- or organization-specific.

For any students or parents who would like to join in celebrating and recognizing this day, we invite you to wear purple on Wednesday, March 8. In addition, faculty and MS students will be passing out stickers on Wednesday morning to commemorate the day and show their support for women everywhere. Look for them by the Booster Hut.

(As a reminder, students who do not participate should wear school uniform.)
