ES Parent Engage – Thursday, February 2 – 7:45-9:15 in MPB1

Please join us for our monthly ES Parent Engage on Thursday, February 2 at 7:45am in the MPB1 located above the MS/HS Cafeteria.  It will be a great opportunity for parents to connect with each other and the ISB ES Principals.

This month the focus will be on the exciting work of “How Full is Your Bucket” by Tom Rath and Don Clifton.  The general concept of “bucket filling” for children and adults is that each of us has an invisible bucket. While using a simple metaphor of a bucket and a dipper, authors illustrate that when we choose to be kind, we not only fill the buckets of those around us, but also fill our OWN bucket. Conversely, when we choose to say or do mean things, we are dipping into buckets. All day long, we are either filling up or dipping into each other’s buckets by what we say and what we do. When you’re a bucket filler, you make the world a better place to be! Once students understand the bucket filling concept, it’s important to introduce the “lid”. We “use our lid” to protect and keep the happiness inside our bucket. The Buckets, Dippers, and Lids concrete concept helps children (and adults) of all ages grow in understanding, kindness, self-control, resilience, empathy, and forgiveness. Come learn about this concept with us in an interactive format!
