Mark your calendars! ISB will be hosting the 2022 Thai University Fair on 14 November from 10:40-12:00 noon in the MPB. We have invited over 50 faculties from Thai universities to be on campus to discuss their programs and admissions requirements. All High school students will be able to attend the fair and parents of High School students are invited to attend as well.
PSAT
Grade 11 ISB students are scheduled to take the PSAT at no cost to the student/family on the morning of Tuesday, 25 October. The PSAT serves as practice for the SAT and is also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for American citizens. On the day of the test, students will report directly to the MPB at 7:30 AM. The test will take approximately 3 hours after completing the registration information. Students pre-registered and received a PSAT booklet in Junior Seminar on Tuesday, October 18 so that they can familiarize themselves with the test. A practice test is also included in the booklet. A practice tests can be found here: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt/preparing/practice-tests/paper
For some ISB students, the PSAT is not relevant to their university applications / planning, and therefore they do not need to take the exam. Students who chose to opt out were asked to have the form completed by a parent by Friday, 7 October. Those opted out of the test will remain in class and follow the schedule for the day.
Junior Seminar was on Tuesday, 18 October. After working on the PSAT registration form, counselors led the grade 11 students through a self reflection exercise using the Holland Codes. The students participated in the Holland Code Party event. Please ask your child what his/her/their strongest three Holland Codes are. Ask them to explain how this may be linked to their future career and university program of study.
Class of 2023
Deadlines for Early Action and Early Decision applications are quickly approaching!
Seniors must have their applications and essays reviewed prior to submitting the application with the counselor. The 1 November deadline is just around the corner. Please help us by reminding your child to submit essays well before the deadline so feedback can be provided with plenty of time for the student to polish their essay before submitting.
Reminder: students should not be submitting their applications on the deadline date! There can be technical issues, personal issues or illness that makes it next to impossible to troubleshoot at the last minute. The best plan is to submit applications well before the deadline. All applications with a 1 November deadline should be submitted by Friday, 28 October with their counselor! Please remind your child to set that appointment with their counselor so their application can be submitted before the deadline!
Senior Seminar #4 was on Thursday, 20 October. The focus was on completing applications and workshopping the University of California application. All students had time to review deadlines and work on essays and focus on completing their applications.
