October 6 & 7 Conferences

We look forward to sharing your child’s learning progress with you as part of the upcoming October 6 & 7 conferences on campus!

As we purposefully calendar conferences well in advance, we ask all families to cooperate by attending conferences on these dates and avoid making any requests for a conference on an alternate date. Please contact ES Principal Michael Allen directly if you have a family emergency that conflicts with your scheduled appointment: MichaelA@isb.ac.th

From PK-Grade 5, the purposes for conferences are the following:

  • Communicate learning growth
  • Enhance home-school partnership
  • Provide ways to promote home learning
  • Build understanding around what learning looks like at ISB

In Grades 1-5, students are a very important part of the conferences and will also attend.  At ISB, we believe that children are in charge of their learning and we give them many opportunities to know that they are capable and that they can influence what happens to them. As we prepare for conferences, children work with teachers to assess their strengths and challenges, select work samples that illustrate their current levels of skill, ability and effort, and create an action plan for continued growth and improvement.  During conferences, teachers, students and parents discuss all aspects of the child’s learning together with openness and transparency so that students continue to feel empowered and responsible for their behavior and learning.

Should you wish to also speak with any of our ES counselors on conference days, please make an appointment in advance:

  • Nicole Tessmer (Pre-K1 and Pre-K2) <nicoletj@isb.ac.th>
  • Kathryn Manu (Pre-K2, KG, Gr. 1 & 2) <kathrynm@isb.ac.th>
  • Doug Williamson (Gr. 3, 4 & 5) <douglasw@isb.ac.th>

If you might need support from one of our Community Liaisons, please reach out to them directly:

  • ISB Korea LIAISON <korealia@isb.ac.th>
  • ISB Japanese LIAISON <japaneselia@isb.ac.th>
  • ISB Chinese LIAISON <chineselia@isb.ac.th>

No Classes on October 6/7

Elementary School Intercultural Week 2022 – November 7-11

Intercultural Day 2022: “Hand in Hand
Calling all parents of ALL CULTURES!

Intercultural Day is an elementary school event that celebrates the diversity and richness of our cultures. The event will be on the week of November 7-11 … and the planning begins now. For more information please click here.

Parents are needed to volunteer to set up classrooms and organize age-appropriate activities highlighting their culture in line with the theme of the year. Each room will be visited by students of the same grade level. The PTA coordinators are very happy to help you with ideas and putting your plan together. Generally, each room organizes a combination of fun activities with songs, dance, games, food, and stories that will delight your eager audience!  We are excited to work together to make this a fun, enriching and successful event for the school community.

REGISTRATION FOR SEASON 2 WILL BE OPEN OCTOBER 5TH-26TH
Registration for after school programs opens at 3:00pm October 5th! See details about how to sign up below. Again, It is our sincere hope that by having all of these programs available in one place for families, it will make it easier for parents to talk with their kids about what’s on, and to decide together what they want to do after school.

Early Release Days (ERD)
Our after-school activities/athletics will begin at their regularly scheduled times on ERD days. This means that there will be a 90-minute gap between the end of the school day and the beginning of session 1. We expect that students will go home and return to school for their activity.

Registration Requirements
Payment is required to register for any pay-to-play programs with the exception of Panther Music which for Season 2 is set up as interest only with payments due after lesson times and teacher availability have been confirmed.  Scholastic, or “free” programs require simply one click on the “register” button associated with each activity to enroll a student. Registration closes for Season 2 activities at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 26th. Note that late registration will not be possible if you miss this window, although you will have an opportunity to sign up for Season 3 activities in January.

Refund Policy
The two reasons we would consider a refund are:

1. Your child has a medical issue that requires them to stop an activity (documentation is required)
2. Your family is leaving the country in the middle of the season

Inclement Weather
Every effort will be made to make up weather related cancellations however refunds will not be issued for activities that are canceled due to circumstances beyond the control of Panther Activities or Athletics.

We reserve the right to make necessary administrative modifications (i.e. instructor, combining classes, location, cancellations, etc.). Changes will be promptly communicated to the email address provided with your registration.

Join Us to Learn More
Please join us  in the Chevron Theater at 8:00am on Wednesday, October 5th for a short presentation on how to use the new CCA registration platform. Attendees should bring their own device in addition to their powerschool login details.
