News from School Counselors

Yesterday was the last day students were able to make changes to their schedule.  Overall, there have been few requests which leads us to believe students are happy with their choices and settling into their classes.

This week we started meeting individually with high school students who are new to ISB. Transitions aren’t easy. It takes time to develop meaningful friendships and sometimes might feel like it will never happen again. We promise it will. Please check in with your child and ask how they are doing. If you have any concerns, please reach out to their counselor – Ms. Leoni (shannonl@isb.ac.th), Mr. Sambula (franks@isb.ac.th) or Ms. Valenzuela (jackiev@isb.ac.th).

Entering Grade 9 is also a big transition. This week we met with all Grade 9 advisories and talked with the students about relationships. Quite often, they feel left behind by people they used to consider friends. Their interests are changing, their values may not align any longer or they may have a disagreement and not know how to fix it. We discussed ways to make new friends, the number one quality they value in a friend and new activities they can participate in this year.

Have a great weekend!
