The start of a school year is a new beginning for everyone: starting a new grade, meeting new teachers and friends, and for many, a new school and a new country. We are sensitive to the many challenges involved in adjusting to these changes, and we will work in partnership with you to help make this transition a healthy, happy and successful one. Together, we will work to ensure that the Elementary School is a place where every child feels safe, and experiences the joy of learning and growing.

- New to ISB.
- Was most recently and since 2016 the Head of Early Years (ages 3-7) at The Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Boys, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
- Educational Consultant and Academic Trainer for AIM Middle East located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates since 2018.
- Head of Faculty / Special Education Coach of a KG School (Ages 3-6) at Abu Dhabi Education Council, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
- Early Years Teacher and PreK Program Coordinator at schools in the USA from 2005-2013.

- Was most recently and since 2010 Principal of schools in Washington state, including West Woodland Elementary School & Emerson Elementary School.

MICHAEL ALLEN, ES Principal
- Joined ISB as ES Principal in July 2020.
- Prior to ISB was past ES Principal at Shanghai American School in China (2013-20), International School Nido de Aguilas in Chile (2005-13), International School San Roberto in Mexico (2002-2005).
- ES Teacher in Mexico (2000-02), Canada (1997-2000), and Korea (1996-97).
- Principal Certification (Principals Training Center, USA).
- Ed.D, Educational Leadership, Nova Southeastern University, USA.
- MA. Ed, International Education, Framingham State University, USA.
- Bachelor of Arts Degrees, Psychology & Elementary Education, University of Regina, Canada.
- Twin son and daughter are HS students at ISB, and wife (Caty) is Director of Teaching and Learning at MYIS Bangkok.

PreK-Grade 1 Start Dates
On Wednesday, August 10 all PreK-Grade 1 families will receive an email invitation to meet with your child’s classroom teacher starting on Monday, August 15. Sign up for the time that is most convenient for you.

Grades 2-5 Start Dates
Class Placement for the 2022-2023 school year will be shared on Thursday, August 11; watch for an email from your teacher to be emailed at 8AM. Grades 2-5 students are invited to a “meet the teacher” session @ 2PM on Thursday, August 11 in the classroom.

Parent/Student Handbook

New ES Family Orientation
We are thrilled to welcome all our new families to ISB, and look forward to supporting your family during your transition! In addition to the individual meetings you have had with an ES Counselor as well as support from the ISB Admissions team, we are offering the New ES Parent Orientation on August 11@ 11:30AM in the ES Cafeteria where you’ll meet the ES Principals, counselors, and get a brief update regarding setting your child up for success at school. ISB CALENDAR 2022-2023
ISB Calendar 2022-2023
This year’s calendars are ready, and will be sent home with all returning students the week of August 15th through ES classroom teachers, MS advisory teachers, and HS advisory teachers. The oldest child in each family will receive a calendar for his/her family, with new students to ISB receiving their calendars during orientation. Please find the 2022-23 calendar linked HERE as we have discovered that some were printed with a random missing page. If you receive a misprinted version and would like to exchange it for one that is complete, or if you would like to purchase an additional calendar (100 THB), please swing by the Panther Den adjacent the Booster Hut anytime between 7:00am and 4:00pm daily Monday through Friday starting August 15th.
