MS Olympics – A Fun Day for All

by Dennis Harter, MS Principal
dennish@isb.ac.th

Today the Middle School faculty along with some parent volunteers hosted this year’s MS Olympics. Normally, this event takes place in December, however, our COVID regulations in first semester made it hard to plan for the event. Our MS PE team, worked incredibly hard to ensure that our MS students would not miss out on an Olympics this year. We are incredibly appreciative of the collective efforts of everyone involved to put on this full day event. We are sorry that we couldn’t have parents attend this year given the capacity requirements (and 400+ students participating), but we are optimistic that parents will be able to come for next year’s Olympics in December!

With one week remaining, we are so happy that we were able to provide this fun day for our students. Here are just a few photos from the great day.

MS Schedule for final week

We have reached the final week of the 2021-22 school year. Students, teachers, and families have done an amazing job adapting to ever-changing circumstances and a busy final few months as we fit a lot of student experiences into a short amount of time.

The schedule next week will include special schedules on Thursday and Friday, with a special highlight of the Grade 8 Moving On Ceremony on Thursday. Special schedules will be shared with students in the Good Morning Middle School email bulletins.

A summary of the final week:

  • Monday, June 13th – Day 8
  • Tuesday, June 14th – Day 1
  • Wednesday, June 15th – Day 2
  • Thursday, June 16th – Special schedule
    • Grade 6/7 – Activity morning & abbreviated Day 3 schedule after lunch
    • Grade 8 – Moving On Ceremony & grade level activities after lunch
  • Friday, June 17th – Last Day of School Special Schedule with 11:30 dismissal
    • Whole School Assembly
    • Abbreviated Day 4 schedule to visit last classes
    • Final Advisory before 11:30 dismissal

MS New Timetable for 2022-23

Looking ahead to the 2022-23 school year, Middle School will be adjusting the times of our timetable to align with some changes that are being made to the High School schedule. Because we have teachers and students who overlap between classes in both school divisions, our timetables have to align in some ways, while avoiding lunch time overlap.

Starting in August, use the timetable shared below. Highlights of note include:

  • Middle School will start at 7:40 AM and end at 2:45 PM
  • We still have an 8-day rotation, with class periods rotating through each time slot
  • Advisory will take place after lunch (not the start of the day)
  • Lunch will start at 10:30 AM – 15 minutes earlier than this year

We will share more information about this at the start of the year, but wanted to provide this update for families returning to ISB.
