DELVE and Graduation

Hi Everyone,

What a weekend and what a week we have just enjoyed.

Finally, we were able to celebrate two significant events, Graduation and DELVE (formally known as GCW) in person for the first time in three years. The smiles (and tears) on the faces of our graduates (now ISB Alumni), their parents and family members was priceless and will be remembered for such a iong time. Many thanks are extended to our Parent Graduation Committee (led by Selma B and Kelly M but supported by many parents) for making our Seniors’ final year a memorable one. Senior treats, golf cart parade, photo boards and portraits hung on fences around Nichada, photo booths, senior gifts from the PTA and the Booster Hut all made our Seniors feel special and celebrated. Thank you everyone!

A big thank you to our B & G staff and the HS office team for making sure all went well at the graduation with beautiful decorations, flowers and all other details taken care of. Thank you!

My last thank you is extended to our teachers for the past four days of looking after, leading and inspiring our students during the first ever DELVE week. This week has been postponed and cancelled too many times to remember, but we were so glad that we could finally get our HS students off campus and into our local communities to make a difference. Congratulations and thank you to Peter Assimakopoulos and Khun Pat for their many hours of planning and preparations for this great event.

Have a great long weekend and rest up for the last two weeks of school. Please be reminded that school continues until 11.30am on Friday June 17th and students are expected to be in attendance at our final assembly on that day.

Student Course Selections for 2022-2023 have been Posted on PowerSchool

Student course selections for the next academic year have been posted to PowerSchool. Please note we do our best to ensure that students get their prefered course choices including electives. However, we do have to assign alternate courses in some instances where the specified selection did not work in the master schedule.

Each course listed represents a single semester of study in that course. Courses listed twice are year long courses. If corrections are needed, students should contact their counselor before the end of the day, June 17th. If the schedule has a notation to ‘See Counselor’ the student MUST contact their counselor before the end of the day, June 17th.

Please note: The master schedule still requires adjustment before school starts in August. It is possible that some classes will move periods or students will be shifted to balance class sizes before the semester starts. Students will have the first 8 days of school to make adjustments based on discussion with their counselor.

I-CARE Bicycle drive

Your TRASH might be someone else’s TREASURE.  Do you have a good bicycle you no longer use?  Please donate it at ISB next week and iCare will come to pick it up.  It will be given to students in isolated villages in north-east Thailand who struggle to walk long distances to school each day.  Your bicycle could have a major impact on their level of education received.  Drop bicycles off in the ISB parking lot near the motorcycle section (Monday – Thursday this week)

News from HS Counselors

Debbie McDowell
debbiem@isb.ac.th

University counselors were all busy this week with DELVE but look forward to connecting with Juniors next week to review their draft essays and personal statements. Please encourage your child to set an appointment with his/her university counselor to get feedback on their writing and to review their university list for balance and diversity.  Given the trends in university admissions around the world, it’s more important than ever before to ensure that students are applying to a range of institutions which will give the student the best chance for admissions while still exploring aspirational opportunities. Your child’s university counselor is the best professional to guide them as they craft their university list.

Kindly,
Debbie
