Congratulations go out to our ES students involved in our Panther Choir, Orff Ensemble and Strings Ensemble who took to the stage and performed beautifully last week! It has been two and a half years since our ES Music ensembles performed on stage for a live audience making last week’s Spring Concert extra special! It was a joyful experience for both students and their families. Thank you to Ms. Wong, Mr. Enders, Ms. Gricius, Ms. Mott, Ms. Fuson, Ms. Miao Rang Wong, and Khun Ploy for fostering students’ love of music.

Leaving Panther Parents
We cordially invite you to join us on Thursday, May 26th for an interactive discussion about transitions and how to leave Thailand well. And how to arrive at your next destination well, whether it be a return home or another chapter in your international life and travels. It’s such a complicated time in your students’ (and probably your) lives, and we’ve got a few ideas to share. We will also make space for all of our parent participants to share their own experience and to help each other make the transition a healthy one for you and yours.
We hope that you can make it on the 26th at 1:30 in the Chevron Theater for about an hour of learning and sharing positive transition next steps in the lives for you and your children. Please rsvp, so that we can plan for the appropriate amount of parents attending. When we hear from you we’ll give you details on how to gain access to campus. Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you on the 26th!
Weekly Message From Principal Allen
The ES Parent/Student Handbook is a great resource for parents and can be found on the ISB website via this link:
One significant enhancement that was made to the ES Parent/Student Handbook this year was the inclusion of the PreK Program Overview which begins on Page #11. This detailed section outlines our approaches to learning in the early years as well as clearly states the learning outcomes in all of the foundational areas including Language and Literacy Development, Mathematics, Inquiry & Cognitive Development, Social Emotional Development, The Arts, and Physical Development. Take a close look and let us know if there’s anything that might require further explanation.
We look forward to welcoming you on campus for the May 26th “Parent Engage” session in the Chevron Theater where we’ll gather your feedback out the PreK and upper ES programs as well as share an overview of enhancements you can expect for 2022-23. Please join us!
Your partner in education,
Michael Allen, Ed.D.

Copied from the PreK Program Overview on Page 11 of The ES Parent/Student Handbook:
Our ISB PreK research-based learning objectives and outcomes are at the heart of everything we do and they define the path teachers take with the children in their classroom. These learning objectives and outcomes for development and learning span from PreK1 to PreK2. They enable teachers to see children’s development and learning along a progression across the two years. The PreK learning outcomes cover many areas of development and learning, including broad developmental areas, content areas, and English language development.
See the prioritized (bold) and supporting (italics) learning objectives and outcomes in each of the following areas of child development:
- Language and Literacy Development
- Mathematics
- Inquiry & Cognitive Development

Virtual Learning for Students Impacted by COVID
Virtual Learning occurs when campus is open and a few students are not able to come to campus (ie: in transit from another country, in quarantine, close contacts). Virtual learning occurs for students in the form of asynchronous learning tasks and assignments. As teachers customize the learning tasks to meet the needs of the child, there could be a delay in sending the tasks to families; we thank you in advance for your patience. Balancing the needs of students both on and off campus has been one of our greatest challenges when we offer on campus and virtual learning.
In order to support students unable to be on campus, Alex Sawaetwong has been assigned to be our Virtual Learning teacher. Ms. Alex leads synchronous Zoom sessions for students on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays when they are at home for COVID related reasons. If you are in need of any type of Virtual Learning support, please contact Ms. Alex know: alexs@isb.ac.th
Note: Students who are symptomatic are expected to rest and focus on getting better; they are marked as “sick” in PowerSchool are not required to complete virtual learning tasks nor attend synchronous sessions until they are feeling better.
Virtual School and Virtual Learning Definitions
Virtual School is the model for learning when all students in a class are learning at home. Virtual School includes a daily schedule of synchronous sessions with homeroom and specialist teachers. Students who are not able to participate in virtual school Zoom sessions (ie. in transit or in another time zone) complete asynchronous learning tasks and assignments.
Virtual Learning occurs when campus is open and a few students are not able to come to campus (ie: in transit from another country, in quarantine, close contacts). Virtual learning occurs for students in the form of asynchronous learning tasks and assignments. Synchronous check-ins are provided periodically during the week by a Virtual Learning teacher.
