Weekly Message From Principal Allen
The ES Parent/Student Handbook is a great resource for parents and can be found on the ISB website via this link:
One portion of the handbook I’d like to draw your attention to is our FAMILY MEMBERS ON CAMPUS section. We’re thrilled that parents are able to be on campus daily and have updated the ES Parent/Student Handbook accordingly. We look forward to seeing you on campus and ask that you wait in common areas such as the MS/HS Cafeteria, the HUB Terrace or the Panther Park and avoid the spaces where students are learning until the 2:25pm dismissal.
As always, thank you for your partnership and commitment to ongoing communication with all of us at ISB!
Your partner in education,
Michael Allen, Ed.D.

FAMILY MEMBERS ON CAMPUS
Family members with ISB ID cards are welcome on campus at any time to attend special events, purchase items from the Booster Hut or Book Store, drop into the libraries to checkout books, and/or enjoy a coffee or snack in the MS/HS cafeteria. We ask visitors on campus to respect the learning happening in learning spaces and avoid waiting in the grade level learning quads.
We welcome parents to visit classrooms to participate in scheduled celebrations of learning and special events, which will be communicated by teachers through Seesaw or email. If parents are interested in meeting with a teacher to discuss their child’s learning or wellbeing, please contact the teacher first by email to schedule an appointment.
Parent messages may be delivered to students if they are received in the office by 1:45 p.m. Please visit or call the ES Office at 02 963 5800.
ARRIVAL PROCEDURES
The Early Childhood and Elementary School turnstiles open for students at 7:00am. Students head to the outdoor play spaces or ES Hub (Grades 1-5) until the 7:35am bell.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
PreK – For families picking up PreK students at 1:10 and waiting on campus until elementary dismissal at 2:25, you are welcome to wait in common areas such as the MS/HS Cafeteria, the HUB Terrace or the Panther Park (after 1:35PM). Please ensure you are actively supervising PreK students, and respecting spaces around the elementary school that are being used for learning until 2:25.
KG – Students in KG are dismissed from the Early Childhood turnstiles; not the KG quad. If you are on campus, you are welcome to wait for your KG students by the Early Childhood gazebo.
Grades 1-5 – Students in Grades 1-5 exit campus through the Elementary School turnstiles. Grade 1 students who are being picked up by a parent or caregiver will wait at the designated area in front of the Business Office.

As a reminder, ATK’s supplied to each child is based on their use only at the scheduled and required ISB times (Sun/Wed). May 5 and 6, 2022 is Character Dress-Up Day!
Students are invited to be out of uniform on their non PE-Day and come to school for Character Dress-Up Day as part of the ES Book Awards celebrations. See below for Mr. Whitman’s message.

Books Needed for Kindergarten Book Sale
Kindergarten is getting ready for our first book sale in two years and we are all very excited. If you have books for young children, ages 3 to 8, that are ready for new homes, please consider donating them to the Kindergarten Book Sale. All proceeds from our sale will go to support Ukrainian students attending School within a School at the American International School of Budapest. There are collection boxes near the ES turnstiles and Early Childhood turnstiles. Thank you for your support.
Virtual Learning for Students Impacted by COVID
Virtual Learning occurs when campus is open and a few students are not able to come to campus (ie: in transit from another country, in quarantine, close contacts). Virtual learning occurs for students in the form of asynchronous learning tasks and assignments. As teachers customize the learning tasks to meet the needs of the child, there could be a delay in sending the tasks to families; we thank you in advance for your patience. Balancing the needs of students both on and off campus has been one of our greatest challenges when we offer on campus and virtual learning.
In order to support students unable to be on campus, Alex Sawaetwong has been assigned to be our Virtual Learning teacher. Ms. Alex leads synchronous Zoom sessions for students on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays when they are at home for COVID related reasons. If you are in need of any type of Virtual Learning support, please contact Ms. Alex know: alexs@isb.ac.th
Note: Students who are symptomatic are expected to rest and focus on getting better; they are marked as “sick” in PowerSchool are not required to complete virtual learning tasks nor attend synchronous sessions until they are feeling better.
Virtual School and Virtual Learning Definitions
Virtual School is the model for learning when all students in a class are learning at home. Virtual School includes a daily schedule of synchronous sessions with homeroom and specialist teachers. Students who are not able to participate in virtual school Zoom sessions (ie. in transit or in another time zone) complete asynchronous learning tasks and assignments.
Virtual Learning occurs when campus is open and a few students are not able to come to campus (ie: in transit from another country, in quarantine, close contacts). Virtual learning occurs for students in the form of asynchronous learning tasks and assignments. Synchronous check-ins are provided periodically during the week by a Virtual Learning teacher.

Congratulations to our U11 Badminton Panthers!
A big congratulations to our U11 Badminton players on Sunday for a spectacular final BMAC tournament at NIST. This was the first time we ever had U11 Badminton offered. Our Boys team ended up getting first place. Most importantly, every player on our team was able to show growth not only in their badminton skills but also in their social and interpersonal skills. We are extremely proud of all of them. Go Panthers!
