ES e-News for January 21, 2022

STANDING TOGETHER WITH EVELYN

GIVE BLOOD
As you may already be aware, one of our most courageous Panthers, and a proud member of our PK-12 community, is in urgent need of our assistance. Evelyn Durbin, daughter of ISB teachers, Augusta Harison Denby and Charlie Durbin, has been fighting cancer for the past year. Complications from her most recent chemotherapy are requiring daily blood transfusions, and given the nationwide shortage of blood and platelets in Thailand, ISB will be hosting The Purple Blood Drive on campus February 1st, 2022 in partnership with the Thai Red Cross. Sign up HERE.

MAKE A DONATION
Facing near total kidney failure last week required a special emergency treatment for Evelyn not covered by medical insurance, so besides the obvious anguish she and her parents are feeling, the mounting costs associated with her care have now topped over eleven million Thai Baht. To help on this front, ISB has set up a special “Friends of Evelyn” account with donations accepted through PayPal, or by direct deposit at Bangkok Bank. Time is of the essence.

WEAR PURPLE
Finally, in a show of solidarity in support of Evelyn and her family, we are asking everyone to wear purple to school on February 1st!

Sunday & Wednesday ATK Testing

Students will be required to take ATK tests every Sunday and Wednesday between 4:00pm and 8:00pm – with results uploaded on the ATK Form within that same timeframe. The next ATK test is required on Sunday, January 23.  If you need assistance with the ATK Form, please write to help@isb.ac.th

It is very important that all test results are entered into the ATK Form within the specified time in order to ensure campus access the following day. The ATK Form is linked to the ID cards and ISB turnstiles system.

ES Classes Begin @ 7:35AM

As ES Classes begin at 7:35AM, we seek your support in having students arrive as close to 7:30AM as possible (and no earlier than 7:15AM).  Students are not permitted to enter classrooms until 7:15AM and will need to wait in the assigned waiting area until this time.

Weekly Message from Dr. Michael Allen

It was so wonderful to have students back on campus this week! While Virtual School kept learning moving forward and helped maintain a strong sense of community for our students the first week back from the holiday break, this week we are all reminded how amazing and essential the in-person experience is for students.

THUMBS UP and thanks go out to teachers, students and parents for pivoting, again, between learning models, and for working together to provide extraordinary care for our students during these challenging times. A special THUMBS UP go out to our families for supporting the daily ATK testing and reporting efforts this past week as well as to everyone on campus for wearing their masks.

THUMBS UP to our parents and faculty who are supporting our students who remain in virtual learning. Students participating in virtual learning are working on essential classroom content, and our hope is for these students to transition back to campus as soon as possible.  Please contact our ES Virtual Learning teacher, Ms. Alex Sawaetwong at alexs@isb.ac.th with any virtual learning questions you might have.

Your partner in education,
Michael Allen
