“True Colors” – An ISB ES Community Song

In their music classes, our ES musicians have been using the song “True Colors” as a way to explore the concept of artistic citizenship. This song has been very meaningful for them as they discuss the importance of being confident, brave, and accepting of themselves and others. Enjoy their beautiful singing and some kindergarten and grade 3 artwork in this video

Annual Elementary Festival of Lights Concert

On December 7th, our three ES music ensembles (Panther String Ensemble, Panther Orff Ensemble and Panther Choir) gathered on Zoom with their families to celebrate through song a number of holidays celebrated by members of our ISB community, all of which feature light in their celebrations. These young musicians, who have been restricted to virtual rehearsals for the entire semester, demonstrated great adaptability and commitment in their performances, and would love for the rest of the ISB community to enjoy their performances by clicking HERE

Thank You: iCare Donations

A huge thank you to our ES community, parents, students and faculty for your tremendous generosity this past week. All ES students participated in our Cuddle Donation Drive and our Chevron foyer is overflowing with stuffed toys and warm blankets to be sent to ‘Dormitories of Hope’: iCare Foundation.

Virtual Learning Ends on Friday

Virtual Learning for those few students who have not yet made their way back to campus will end on Friday, December 17.  There will not be a Virtual Learning option when school resumes in January; all students are expected to be on campus or will be marked absent.  Should the ISB campus or a classroom need to close, impacted students and teachers will resume Virtual School.

  • Virtual Learning occurs when campus is open and a few students are not able to come to campus. Virtual Learning occurs in the form of asynchronous learning tasks and assignments.
  • Virtual School is the model for learning when all students in a classroom are learning at home.

On Campus Student Absences

When students who attend classes on campus are absent, they will be marked absent in PowerSchool and may be expected to complete missed work when they return to campus.  On campus students who miss school due to travel will be marked absent and will not participate in virtual learning. Please contact ES Principal Michael Allen at MichaelA@isb.ac.th if planning an extended absence.

ES Letter Days

When we return to school on January 10th, the ES letter days will align with the published calendar, however for the rest of the first semester, the letter days will be as follows:

Weekly Message from Dr. Michael Allen

As you prepare to head into the December break, I invite families to enjoy the book “Have you filled a bucket today?” by Carol McCloud.  I had the opportunity to share it with a classroom as a guest reader earlier today, and was touched by the students’ reactions and commitment to being “bucket fillers”.  The “Bucket Fillosophy” helps people of all ages live happier lives by growing in kindness, self-control, resilience and forgiveness.  Check out the video below and the three rules that lead to greater happiness:

  1. Be a bucket filler. Be kind.
  2. Do your best not to dip. Don’t be mean.
  3. Use your lid. Protect your bucket and the buckets of others.

The book is available for purchase on Lazada and Amazon

CAN’T YOU SEA @ ISB? Dec 6–Dec 16, 2021
ES Hub, ES Office and Hallways

Art is powerful. It has the ability to communicate important social, political and environmental issues in a way that is loud and unyielding in its resolve and at the same time playful and beautiful in its approach. Can’t You Sea @ ISB? is an exhibition of ES art that brings awareness to one of our world’s most immediate and biggest environmental problems: plastic ocean pollution. The ocean contains an estimated 150 million tons of plastic, with 8 million tons added annually—equivalent to a garbage truck load every minute (2015 study). Plastic ocean pollution injures and kills marine life, spreads toxins and poses a potential threat to human health. This global environmental issue has been dramatically elevated in recent years, and the ES art team is proud to become a part of the conversation by bringing ocean plastic pollution awareness to ISB.

Can’t You Sea @ ISB? is an exhibition of ARTifacts created by every student in the elementary school. The works are created with ceramics, drawings, and collage. Discarded plastic is used as both an artistic medium and as subject matter. While helping make the world a better place by keeping plastic and other pollutants out of our oceans, beaches and waterways, the young artists are bringing awareness to this increasing environmental threat.

A video of this exhibition will be available and sent home to the wider community at a later date. Please take some time to discuss the important issues highlighted throughout the exhibition with your families and friends. Special thanks to Khun Apple and the B&G team, Khun Noi, Khun Somsa and Khun Toom.
