ES e-News for October 1, 2021

Weekly Message from the Principal

Welcome Back to Campus!  Kids (and teachers!) were overjoyed to be back on campus this week!  For many, it felt like the first day of school!  It was such a thrill to see students exploring the Sky Park & the Parkour Park, eating their first meals in the new cafeteria, and watching our 3-years olds confidently walk through the turnstiles for their first days on campus.

Here are some of the things we heard students saying this week:
“This isn’t a cafeteria… this is a resort!”
“Being on campus for school is SO much better than virtual school.”
“My teacher is so much taller than I expected”.
“The zipline is my favorite part of the new playground.”
“It’s awesome that I can check out books!”
“I love the new doors!”  (Yes, a student in Lori Logman’s G3 class told us this!)
“I am finally getting to show my friends my favorite spots in the school.”

Our hope is to welcome every child back to campus as soon as possible.  I invite the families who have not yet committed to sending their children to campus to reach out to me with any questions you may have about the reopening.

Thank you again goes out to everyone who has adhered to the ISB safety guidelines including ATK testing in order for us to safely welcome students back to school this week!

ES Hybrid Model Community Handbook

  • Hybrid Learning occurs when campus is able to be open with reduced numbers.  In September 2021, ISB was approved to be open at 50% capacity. In this case a hybrid model is put into place where students are engaged in both on campus and virtual learning.
  • Virtual School is the model for learning when all students are learning at home.
  • Virtual Learning occurs when campus is open and a few students are not able to come to campus (ie: in transit from another country, in quarantine).

Please find the link to the ES Community Hybrid Model Handbook via the ISB website: https://www.isb.ac.th/learning-isb/isb-virtual-school/

On-Campus Arrival Time for ES Students

In order to keep our grade level cohorts separated on campus, students will not be able to play outside before school begins, therefore we ask that students come to school as close to 7:30AM as possible and no earlier than 7:15AM.

Virtual WL Update

Virtual World Languages classes resume on Monday, October 4th. Our Thai, Mandarin and Spanish teachers will be following the on-campus World Languages schedule, and virtual students will be connecting to the lessons via Zoom to join their classmates who are on campus! Students who are not able to attend synchronous sessions according to our on campus schedule will engage in asynchronous learning opportunities.

Oct. 11-15 Holiday Week

Enjoy the holiday! Have a lovely time with family and friends, traveling or taking things a little more slowly.  Classes resume on Monday, October  18.

Conferences Postponed

Student Parent Teacher conferences were originally planned for October 6/7, and are now postponed to November in order to maximize student time on campus before the October break.  Conference details will be shared soon.  Should you have any questions about your child’s education please contact your child’s teacher. Link to ES Staff Email Directory.

ES Cohort Schedule

All ES students are assigned to an A (Black) or B (Gold) cohort. These cohorts come to campus every other day following an A/B rotation.  Homeroom teachers will share daily virtual schedules for students not coming to campus.
