Dear ISB Community,
As we plan for the reopening of our campus to students, it is a good time for us to share these reminders about traffic safety within Nichada and in the ISB parking lots. The new East Gate is now complete and will be open as we resume on campus learning. This additional exit will be a key to reducing traffic back up in our parking lot and making drop off and pick up easier and more efficient.
East Gate Vehicle Rules
- It is an Exit Only
- All vehicles leaving through the east exit must turn left only (Direction Expressway)
Parking stickers
- We will continue to use last year’s parking stickers until the December break. We will then have an updated registration form to use. For those without a parking sticker, ISB ID is acceptable to present when entering the campus
General Nichada Traffic Considerations
Drop Off –
- Please have students ready to exit the vehicle before entering the parking lot. We ask that you only stop along the curb for no more than 15 seconds.
- Exit out of the left side of the vehicle
- Drivers to remain at the wheel
Pick Up –
- Please meet your students at the designated alphabetical pick up location
- Respect others and don’t park along the curb to wait. If you student isn’t there, park and have them meet you in the parking lot
Biking to School
- Must wear helmet
- Stay in the bike lanes
Students in Golf Carts
- Must have a valid driving license (any country). See the HS student handbook.
- Carts must be registered and have a valid ISB parking sticker – (Sticker registration will be available after October break. ISB ID will be sufficient until then)
- No parking in the 7-Eleven parking lot
General Nichada Traffic Considerations
Last year ISB worked in partnership with Nichada Thani to identify ways that we could work together to create a safer environment for our community. Many community members shared their concerns and suggestions in a survey that was conducted early this year. This data was shared with the Nichada Thani team and several major projects have been undertaken in response to the concerns and ideas shared through the survey responses.
Some key traffic rules to remember when driving in Nichada:
- Anyone driving a car, golf cart, or scooter MUST have a valid Thai drivers license.
- Parents must not allow under age drivers on the roads.
- The speed limit within Nichada is 30 KPH in all areas.
- When walking–one should walk FACING traffic (in the opposite direction that cars travel).
- When biking, ride WITH traffic (in the same direction as cars travel).
- The guards deserve to be listened to and treated respectfully.
Everyone should wear helmets when riding bicycles and motorcycles / scooters (Thai law)
