‘Time for a break’

Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

I am sure that your children are appreciating a break from their computers and from zoom lessons after nearly 5 weeks of virtual school. Our teachers are still working today though, planning for a return to school which will hopefully be sooner rather than later. The HS faculty will I am sure, will also enjoy a well-deserved long weekend before returning to classes on Monday.

Thank you to parents who joined the various webinars and workshops over the past week or so to stay updated and to ask questions about their children’s education and online learning. Our teachers and counselors are working hard to maintain that connection with students and to reach out and help in any way that they can.

If you missed the HS PTA meeting on Tuesday you can view the slideshow which contains much of the key information that was shared at that meeting.  Click on HS PTA slideshow Sept 14th to see the presentation.

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Regards
Justin Alexander
High School Principal

News from School Counselors

Kevin Callahan
kevinc@isb.ac.th

A short week and some well-deserved time off for your students!  Please encourage your students to get some sleep, log off the computer, and get some fresh air on this four day weekend.  They need it!

Schedule changes can only be made for the following reasons and by the following dates:

  1. If a teacher recommends a level change due to misplacement (i.e. Math HL to Math SL, Extended Math to Core Math, Spanish III to Spanish II), a change can be made with counselor, parent and administrative approval.  The original class will not appear on your transcript.  Deadline is Friday, September 17.
  2. Between the sixth and tenth week of a course, if a student needs to move down a level, the dropped course will be listed on the transcript with a WP (Withdraw Pass) or WF (Withdraw Fail).  WP or WF grades are not included in the calculation of GPA nor is credit granted.  The grade calculated in the new course will start fresh and only include work completed for the new course.  Deadline is Friday, October 22.
  3. No level changes after October 22.

Please speak with your counselor if you have any questions.

HS Arts Council Presents: Mindful Coloring

Anthony Giles
anthonyg@isb.ac.th

Arts Council encourages all students to try Mindful Coloring with the coloring pages provided  HERE. Mindful coloring is when you color while consciously focusing on the act of coloring. Research proves coloring can induce a meditative state, a state highly beneficial for relaxation and stress relief, enhancing physical and emotional well-being. In mindfulness coloring, you let go of all thoughts and bring awareness to the current activity in an interactive & imaginative way. Care to share your work on our @isbartsco Instagram? Please send finished pieces to Miinin at 21725@students.isb.ac.th, or Will at 16680@students.isb.ac.th. Have fun, relax and be creative!
