Message from the HS Principal

Dear Parents,

I hope that you and your families are all safe and well at the moment. Our thoughts are with everyone who is currently impacted by the changing COVID situation and in particular members of our ISB community who have tested positive. Please join me in sending our collective support and best wishes to them and we all hope that they have a quick and full recovery.

Virtual school continues for the coming week and I want to pass on my thanks to our students for their efforts and engagement in virtual school classes this week. Our teachers too are working hard to provide engaging and challenging lessons and they continue to lead the learning for our students. Thank you to our teachers for their efforts at this time.

A challenge for everyone (parents, teachers and students) is the uncertainty of the current situation, particularly regarding when school might reopen and if so, what restrictions may be in place at school. To help combat some of that uncertainty, we are making decisions about a number of upcoming events that are in question. In particular that includes canceling the Gr 9 – 11 exams, Delve, the May 8 and June 5th SAT’s and making adjustments to a number of other events that are coming up in the next month or so. An emailed letter was sent out earlier today to all HS parents and students explaining in more detail the reason behind the cancellation of the Grade 9 -11 exams along with a list of other canceled or postponed events.

The HS admin team met earlier today with the HS Parent graduation committee and our Senior Student council to discuss possible plans for this year’s graduation given the current situation. We plan to have a communication ready to share with parents of seniors and the class of 2021 by Tuesday morning, that will give more details about the possible plans for graduation at this time.

Parents who plan to leave Bangkok or Thailand prior to June 11 are asked to contact Justin Alexander, HS Principal at justina@isb.ac.th , to share the details of your departure.  Please note that when virtual school ends and classes resume on campus, virtual learning for students who don’t return to campus will continue in the form of asynchronous learning tasks and assignments.

Once again, please be sure to stay safe and stay healthy. Our teachers, counselors and HS admin team are ready to help you and your children with any questions or concerns that you might have at this stage.

Please do reach out to any one of us if you need some help or someone to talk to.

All the best

Justin Alexander
