MS Leadership Seminar – March 27
by MS Counselors
Our March 27 MS Student Leadership Seminar is entitled Leading with Kindness: What You Need to Know About Compassionate Leadership. Our focus will be on introducing the concept of compassion and on helping students identify the characteristics of compassionate leadership. Students will also be presented with age-appropriate tools to demonstrate compassion in words and actions. Please encourage your child to join us for a fun-filled workshop dedicated to understanding why effective leaders lead with kindness and compassion and specific ways they might practice this in their daily interactions with their peers. There will be lots of new, hands-on activities and it’s a great opportunity to make new connections. Your child will receive a certificate for participating in this activity. Due to our physical distancing requirements, this seminar will be held in the MPBs and space is limited to 40 students.
You can sign up your child at this link.
Positive Parent Feedback from Student Led Conferences
by Dennis Harter, MS Principal
dennish@isb.ac.th
We were very pleased with how well our students did with Student Led Conferences last week. We are also appreciative of the parents’ participation, great questions, and engagement with their children during the process. Students have reported feeling greater ownership of their learning and pride in presenting something to an audience they truly value.
Parents were able to provide feedback on a short survey at the end of the conference and we thank everyone who completed it. We received 371 responses which is a good response rate for a middle school of 430 students. It was an even split of each grade level represented.
We appreciate the feedback we received and our faculty and SLC team are looking at it all as we evaluate the program and plan for next year.
From the surveys, 96- 97% of parents agree that:
- they better understand how their child learns,
- they have a clear picture of their child’s strengths and areas for growth,
- the process increased their child’s responsibility and ownership of their academic progress,
- the process helped their child be a more reflective learner.
Even with this overwhelmingly positive feedback, we are digging into the comments to help us make the process even better for the future.
In the meantime, parents can also expect direct teacher comments about their child’s learning progress just ahead of the Songkran break.
Next week is Spirit Week
March 22 to 26 will be Spirit Week at ISB. We encourage students to join the fun and show their spirit by joining into the various dress day themes for the week (see below). No child is required to participate, it’s just a fun week to come to school dressed differently. Students are always welcome to wear school uniform on any of these days – many students do.

The What, When and Where about Panther Activities
Panther Activities at ISB is the umbrella organization for a multitude of programs offered after school and on weekends that provide active, creative, diverse and collaborative opportunities for all students. Different from scholastic programs which are offered exclusively to ISB students as an extension of their enrollment, most Panther Activities include a fee and are open to both ISB and non-ISB students. Although some Panther Activities sessions align with the three ISB Athletic seasons which start in August, October, and February respectively, many are offered year round with two registration periods, August and January, in line with the start of each of ISB’s academic semesters. Although sometimes daunting to navigate, the plethora of choices available at ISB, coupled with multiple entry points to join throughout the year, allow students to dabble, dive deep, or diversify!
