ES Virtual School Continues

The ES Community Virtual School Handbook (linked here) provides an overview of virtual school for parents. Please continue to reach out to teachers with questions via Seesaw or email.  Have a great Week 3 of virtual school!

Parent-Teacher Partnership Connections This Week!

A strong home-school partnership is always beneficial for students, and this is especially true during virtual school where parents are highly involved in supporting their child’s learning and success!  This week teachers will be contacting parents to quickly connect regarding each child’s virtual school experience, problem-solve any issues that might be coming up, and collect feedback that may inform future virtual school enhancements.

KG-Grade 5 Core Curriculum Jan/Feb Overviews

Thank you to the parents who were able to join us for the January 21st ES Parent Engage where we previewed the big ideas of upcoming reading and writing units (see links below) and shared information about our digital book resources, Epic and Sora (https://library.isb.ac.th/c.php?g=864053&p=6645329).

PreK Language & Literacy Overview:

Children develop language and literacy through meaningful experiences such as read-alouds, book-making, storytelling, small and whole group conversations, as well as dramatic play. Language learning involves understanding increasingly complex language, using language to express thoughts and needs, as well as developing appropriate conversational skills. Literacy learning focuses on phonological awareness, letters and sounds, concepts of print, listening comprehension, and emergent writing.

ISB Facebook Live on Weds @ 2PM

On Wednesday, January 27th at 2pm we will be coming to you LIVE from our ISB Early Childhood playground! We know you are just itching to get a closer look at the new playground! With the new lockdown measures, it’s not possible to be there in person, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to bring it to you – LIVE from our Facebook!

Our Elementary Principals will be streaming live from the Early Childhood playground, where they will be able to answer some of your real-time questions and you might even be able to ask them to go to certain areas in the playground to get a closer look!

See you there panthers.

Thank you again for your support and partnership during virtual school these past two weeks!  An important aspect of our plan is checking in with you about your family’s virtual school experience. Teachers will be contacting you this week to learn more about your child’s virtual school experience, problem-solve any issues that might be coming up, and collect feedback that may inform future virtual school enhancements.

Several of you have shared feedback with me directly as well.  In regards to schoolwide virtual school enhancements, so far, some parents have shared that they would appreciate a common ES lunch time to support families with multiple children and a few have shared that they would like to see more live Zoom sessions with our Art, Music and PE specialists.  Aside from those two areas, all other feedback has been very positive; parents have shared that their children are continuing to learn and have appreciated the efforts of their child’s teachers. Much like the feedback gathered in May 2020, your positive and constructive feedback will be taken into consideration as we adjust and refine our virtual school plans moving forward.

We are hopeful that next week will be our last week of Virtual School, but of course are prepared if we need to continue learning progress in this form. On behalf of the school administration, I do want to publicly share our appreciation for the work our teachers, counselors, and staff are doing to ensure learning progress for your children.

Thank you in advance for connecting with your child’s teacher this week and your ongoing partnership

Your partner in education,
Michael Allen, Ed.D.

(Repeat) PARENT ACTION REQUIRED: Student Tracking Locations

Even during VS, all ES parents are required to login to Powerschool and update their journal for the week, listing locations visited outside school hours.  All schools in Thailand are required by the Ministry of Education to have their students/parents keep and complete a daily journal of their whereabouts after school hours.

Logging into Powerschool, you will see a notification to update the Journal:

Each Sunday, complete the journal for the preceding week for each ES child. If you are having trouble accessing Powerschool or are unable to see your students in Powerschool,  email ES Powerschool Secretary, Khun Tom <cholthis@isb.ac.th>
