Grateful for a semester on campus

by Dennis Harter, MS Principal

Yesterday’s Olympics and today’s final assembly of the term were apt examples of how fortunate we have been this year to have our students and teachers learning together on campus for this entire term. As schools like us around the world remained in or returned to online schooling, we stayed open all semester.

Thanks to the careful attention of Thailand and the joint effort of our community to keep students safe and campus open, our students were able to learn in classrooms, engage with their classmates, play sports, perform on stage, and participate in activities.

At times our on campus rules and guidelines may have seemed overly strict, but it has allowed us to join in the combined efforts of the people of Thailand to do our part to prevent any spread.

On behalf of Cindy Plantecoste and myself, I want to thank our community for their ongoing support and for helping keep us open for students. Thank you to our teachers and counselors for their on-going flexibility and attention to students wellbeing. Trying times can often reveal the most about an institution. This semester has shown that our Middle School team demonstrate our values of care, courage, responsibility and commitment.

For that, and the semester we’ve been able to have, we are incredibly grateful.

We wish everyone in our community a lovely holiday and a Happy New Year!

See you in 2021!

MS Olympics a Wonderful Success

On Thursday, students participated in our MS Olympics, hosted this year by India. From the wonderful Opening Ceremony onwards, the day was a wonderful celebration of our community. Students engaged in cultural activities, played team games and competed on the track and field. They showed terrific school spirit while also demonstrating care, respect, and courage throughout the day.

Thank you to our Indian parent community, our parent volunteers, our faculty, our buildings and grounds staff, and especially our MS PE team for putting on such a special day for our students. We couldn’t do it without everyone’s support.

It was a great way to kick of the holiday!

Adjustment to Semester 2 Daily MS Schedule

In the second semester Middle School will make a small adjustment to the daily schedule, in order to provide students with more time to eat lunch and do what they need to between classes. To accomplish this, we will move 5 minutes from the later break between classes into lunch.

The new daily MS timetable will now be:

  • 7:35 to 8:55 – First Block
  • 9:10 to 10:30 – Second Block
  • 10:30 to 11:15 – Lunch
  • 11:15 to 11:45 – Advisory / Flex
  • 11:50 to 1:10 – Third Block
  • 1:20 to 2:40 – Fourth Block

This will also be communicated to students through our student bulletin, Good Morning Middle School, with reminders through the first week of the new year.

Jan 11th a Day 1

ISB will be closed for the next 3 weeks for the holidays. School will resume with the Second Semester, on January 11th, a Day 1.
