Dear Parents,
As many have recently noticed in the media, there has been a small cluster of positive COVID-19 cases imported from neighboring Myanmar. The Ministry of Public Health has focused on this particular group as they had bypassed state quarantine and all had a common history of visiting an establishment in Myanmar close to the border. The cluster has been localized mostly in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. Additionally, five local transmission cases have been reported amongst health care workers in Bangkok, three of which were working in ASQ (quarantine facilities).
We have received guidance from the Director of the Division of Communicable Disease, Dr. Sopon Iamsirithaworn, MD, PhD, Ministry of Public Health about travel in Thailand and we were informed that the situation continues to remain safe. In Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai visitors are recommended to avoid crowded areas. All travellers should continue to take the usual precautions of wearing masks, observing physical distancing and regularly washing hands.
We thank the ISB community for continuing to follow our policies regarding mask wearing, distancing, and hand hygiene while on campus. We encourage everyone to continue to be watchful as the holidays approach and when traveling throughout Thailand.
