MS Principal’s Forum – Tuesday, November 3rd
by Dennis Harter, MS Principal
dennish@isb.ac.th
This Tuesday, MS administration will host our Principal’s Forum. These meetings, hosted once per semester, provide a time for administration to address concerns shared to us through the MS PTA coordinators.
The MS Principal’s Forum will take place in the MPB, 9-10:30 AM, on Tuesday, November 3rd.
Topics that we will focus on at this session include:
- Standardized Testing in the MS
- Digital Citizenship and Skills for students
- Formative and Summative Assessments – how students see them
- Library Update
- ISB Curriculum questions
- Information about future sessions on MS to HS Course Pathways
(note we will not go into these topics at this time … they are sessions in their own right)
Some of the questions submitted will be forwarded along to the parts of school that look after these issues (cafeteria and operations for example) and we will share updates in writing in next week’s eNews.
MS Snow Ball Postponed
by Dennis Harter, MS Principal
dennish@isb.ac.th
As we head into the last half of the first semester, we typically look for ways to celebrate the students’ hard work with different celebratory events. One such event has always been our “MS Snow Ball” social, which takes place in early December. With pizza, music, friends and dancing, the event has been fun for MS students in all grades to enjoy the social time at school.
Unfortunately, looking ahead to December, we don’t see the same fun event being possible with distancing, mask wearing, and no food allowed restrictions in place. As such, we are postponing the Snow Ball until a time when we can run the even closer to its original intent.
In the meantime, grade levels are looking into ideas for grade level fun and celebrations we can have with smaller groups as we wind down the semester.
We wanted to share this information with you as soon as possible so that families didn’t go out and buy any clothes for this – we know MS students grow out of clothes very quickly.
Students were informed of this decision this week through the Good Morning MS News emails.
Update Student Passport Information in Powerschool
By Chad Bates, Information Technology Director
In order to ensure that thorough contact tracing can be conducted if necessary and ensure that schools are maintaining proper records, earlier this school year, Thailand’s Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) issued a directive to schools regarding the collection of passport or national ID numbers and other details (listed below) of community members, including students and staff.
In line with Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act, ISB would not disclose this information to any individual or organization for any purpose other than that designated by our legal obligation to the Government of Thailand.
Please ensure that one person from each family reviews and updates Powerschool with your student’s current demographic information.
NOTE: Passport issue date is a new required field.
