Lockers in the Middle School

As we have shared, our middle school students have not had access to their lockers to start the school year. This has been part of ISB’s efforts to conform to physical distancing requirements from the Ministry of Public Health. Our hope had been that distancing regulations might change over time, however, we are seeing that they may be in place for the foreseeable future.

As such, we will move forward with a trial of re-introducing the lockers for middle school students. We will ask students to collect and drop off items in their lockers without congregating and “hanging out” in the locker areas. This will require some compliance from students and regular reminders from teachers.

Next week, we will assign and “code” ID cards to student lockers according to the following schedule.

  • Grade 6 – Wednesday
  • Grade 7 – Thursday
  • Grade 8 – Friday

The process takes some time and we cannot collect ID cards for long periods because students need them for campus access and exit.

Upon activating the lockers, we will expect students to keep their belongings (including phones) in the lockers and no longer carry their bags from class to class.

We are pleased that students will be able to use lockers again. We hope that students can do their part to maintain distancing requirements and prevent congregating so that we can continue to use them for the remainder of the year.
